Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo is one of those anime that seems to be forgotten in the mainstream of things. It is precursary to works like Detective Conan. They show a nice progression of the detective genre over in Japanese Anime/Manga.

Not sure who copied who, but the settings for the mysteries in the first few story arcs of Kindaichi Shounen and the story arcs of Ayatsuri Sakon are exactly the same. The castle and being stranded in an isolated mountain - all too familiar. But both are good regardless. And the mysteries are different even though the settings are strikingly familiar.

These are really fun and amazing detective shows both are somewhat old but it has more originality. Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo has serial killers which is personally fun to me and Tantei Gakuen Q is a bit more like a game. These two didn't seem as predictable as other detective shows.

Solving "Jiken" case and crimes. Both amazing detective anime! I especially anticipated to see how they would handle the CRIME case in Team KZ cause the characters are kids and I was extremely pleased with what I saw.

maybe this is a different genre but cases of problems faced by the main character are complicated and unexpected suspects

While Kindaichi is about a detective and Gyakuten Saiban is about an attorney; in both anime the young main characters investigate murder cases and serve justice (Naruhodou from Gyakuten Saiban does plenty of investigation as well and his clients are innocent so he always tries to find the real killer). Both have quite some comedy in it and are not extremely realistic; for example Kindaichi Shounen has high school students as detectives.

Both of these Anime are about mysteries that surround school students. The themes are rather dark and death abounds. The dark gothic feel for each is nice despite the fact they are two different eras.

Both of these series deal with classic mystery story lines, one being an old English mystery novel classic while the other being a mystery classic for the mystery novel of Japan. They also evolve young detectives and mannerisms

Both of these are Gothic styled mystery story lines. Kindaichi is a classic among mystery manga while Gosick uses classic myths from the area to move the mysteries involved.

Kindaichi is an older mystery series while Phi Brain is a newer series. Both series has their own group of characters that have their own charms to them.

The similarity of the two has is that they both have a detective and mystery solving plot line to it. Both Kindaichi and Yakumo are both really young detectives at their age. They both help solve many difficult murder cases that even the police can't even solve.
