Similarities: Both involves the same pesky girl who comes into guy's life. Both pesky girls ruins guy's peaceful lives. Both involves the same comedy and harem genre. Dissimilarities: One was more of sic-fi while the other is into fantasy. One is a full 25 min long anime while the other is limited only to 12 mins.

Both series consists of silly dialogue, scenes, and interactions involving sea creatures. In essence, they are supernatural comedies that deals with characters who are not so normal. Both series follows more of a slice of life style with no different story. The main female protagonist also seems to have an outgoing personalities from both series that occasionally drives some of the other characters nuts.

Both shows have wacky girls doing wacky, absurd things, and each of the characters of these shows rhymes with their quirks (e.g. Muromi-san and Jashin-chan), insanity, nonsense, and still with the CGDCT-ness in effect.

Both series are absurd comedies dealing with the supernatural in particular the theme of mermaids. While Namiuchigiwa no Muromi-san seems to lack romance, both series has tons of humorous moments that are often presented by the characters. The main male protagonist also meets the main female protagonist in an absurd way and they have an absurd relationship. If you're looking for a fun series for some great laughs, check out these two titles.

Both are gag comedies, have heroines with similar personalities, and short episodes.

Both are about a guy who fishes out/finds a mermaid who immediately falls in love with hime. While Namiuchigiwa no Muromi-san is more comedy, Ponyo Ponyo on the Cliff by the See is more fairy tale.

Both series have short, humorous slice-of-life type episodes and have a similar plot involving a high-school boy who finds a ditzy merperson one day and ends up surrounded by cute mythical creatures thanks to said merperson. Both have a similar story-telling style and sense of humor. Both have needlessly epic openings for their genre.

Similar artstyle....too similar in my opinion...and characteristics of each girl, for example : HackaDoll No.1 = Muromi-san........... HackaDoll No.2 = Levia-san........HackaDoll No.3 = Yeti girl..... Both shows have awesome OP songs [ damn, I just love them... and you will also ] Both relies heavily on comedy genre.... fast paced action/gags...which leaves you a feeling that you want more and more.... pretty much there is no storyline, but there is one thing that HackaDoll anime doesn't have like Namiuchigawa no Muuromi-san.... that's male MC.... but I think that he is not needed in HackaDoll because it's enough already of these 3 HackaDoll's.... In shorter... it's basically  read more

Both have strange creatures. Both have humorous situations arise when these creatures do unexpected things.

Both series are hyperactive comedies, and in both the events of one episode tend to have little to do with the rest of the show.

Both place fantastic creatures in the modern world. Magipoka focuses more on culture shock though.

Both series derive comedy from placing supernatural things into the world we know.

In both, the male lead suddenly finds himself surrounded by lots of strange women. Bizarre things follow.

Both are primarily comedy. Both have a lot of girls. Both use their characters' personalities as a source of humor.

Both have comedic excellence that revolve around a young male meeting or knowing a young female and having silly adventures.

> SIMILARITIES: Everyday life comedies about "I got a new buddy who is not a human" - Both stories are about a human spending time and building a friendship with a creature from another area of his/her world (mythological creature or gods). - This creature have a half human, half animal body. - This creature is a weirdo among its fellows (the funny weirdo not the creepy one) because of a strong (but yet something annoying for the human which it so funny for us watcher) personality. - The stories take place in the human world but we get to discover the "other" world and the other  read more
