Both take place back in the samurai days.
Both are historical samurai shows with shinsengumi, lots of blood and fighting, and a clumsy, short main character with orange hair. I highly recommend both.
Two samurai shows set approximatively in same time period, with some overlapping characters, and red-head main characters!!!
Comedy and action mix perfectly in both, however Kenshin is more interesting and gripping. If you liked Peacemaker you'll LOVE Kenshin
Historical samurai & action theme
samurai themed and both go back in time. they both contain the shinsengumi (in peacemaker, he is part of the shinsengumi and in kenshin the tall guy, forgot his name, came from there). the main characters both fight, but dont kill. i would recommend both to anyone.
Both animes are Historical and about Samurais.
PMK is all about Shinsengumi, with Saitou, Okita and others, that "appear" or are mentioned in RK.
Even though the titles aren´t alike, it is almost as seeing the two sides of a coin.

PMK isn't as dark or brooding as Bakumatsu is, but both are historical fiction. In fact, both include the Shinsengumi. PMK focuses mainly on the Ikedaya incident of the Shinsengumi and follows 15-year-old Tetsunosuke Ichimura as he goes out to avenge the death of his parents (he also meets Ryoma Sakamoto, who, in Bakumatsu, is Akizuki's master).
The only negative thing I would say about this is that they over-exaggerate the blood spatter.
Same time, same heroes, nothing special
Both are historical anime about the same historical period (shinsengumi). Lots of sword fights, serious topics.

Both titles are about the Shinsengumi in the same era of Japan's history. A handful of the characters are featured in both works, so it's interesting seeing the same historic people portrayed differently.
Both are historical portrayals of the Shinsengumi. While Peace Maker's historical value is somewhat ruined for the sake of entertainment, it still contains a few history lessons. Shiro no Kiseki, however, offers a very good insight into the life of Hijikata Toshizo, the demon vice commander of the Shinsengumi, and seems to be quite accurate. It doesn't only show us his Shinsengumi days, but also follows the rest of his life all the way up to his death. Both are a must see for anyone wanting to learn about the Shinsengumi. The same characters and settings also appear in both, so it's nice to see how people interpret them differently.

The characters are also related somehow. LIke okita, toshiro and such... Shinsengumi... All the less, they're both good~!
Peace Maker Kurogane is a historical drama that is set during the Bakumatsu and is told entirely from the Shinsengumi's perspective. It is not incredibly historically accurate (though it is more true to history than Gintama and is set in the real world rather than an alternate universe) and the Shinsengumi characters are, of course, portrayed differently here than in Gintama, but the series might interest fans who are curious about the Shinsengumi.

Synopsis
Although traumatized by witnessing the murder of his parents by one of the Choushuu, Ichimura Tetsunosuke's thirst for revenge lead him to desire strength. At the age of 15, Tetsunosuke approached the Shinsengumi, wanting to become one of its members. However, Tetsunosuke lacked the skill, mind and will to emotionlessly cut down whoever threatened peace and the Shinsengumi. Even with the support of his brother Tatsunosuke and his newfound friends of the Shinsengumi, little did Tetsunosuke know the blood and pain he would have to face being part of this historical group. Based on the manga by Chrono Nanae.

These are two of my favorite Samurai series. The art work is beautiful and both the stories are wonderful and drama filled as well.

Samurai action is all this show is about and, if you are an aficiendo for that kind of thing than this is the show for you. Set in 1860's Japan Peace Maker Kurogane paints the story from the Shinsengumi's point of view, and not the side we are used to seeing in RK. Fifteen year old Ichimura Tetsunosuke wants to join the ranks to avenge his parent's untimely deaths. However, his short stature and ill temper make him reduce to grunt work for the Vice Commander. A slew of interesting and great characters present themselves throughout the story. Highly recommended!

Both of these anime have to do with a group of samurai, while they are in different time settings both deal with the aspect of bonding, fighting and getting to know one another.
