Kono Danshi, Uchuujin to Tatakaemasu.

Some people say that there's no plot and the story is too simple but I can't disagree more. The show makes you ponder about the deeper question behind it. Why are they attacking? Why should I fight? What happens if I don't? Am I alone?

To me, the story is absolutely stunning (and I ended up crying a little while watching). It is some what light hearted but those who have watched anime like Bokurano will definitely be struck by the similarity between the underlying theme.

The main issue with this is the animation. However, I came to watch it with the full knowledge that ... it is a mixture of anime and comics animation so while it is a major drawback, I was not too much of an issue to me.

This anime's story line is a bit airy. U never find out his direct connection to the aliens and why he of all people was chosen to fight but, the story has a broader focus.


Dealing with the issues of abandonment and the overwhelming feeling of loneliness in a world that isn't always kind. It's touching and leaves u teary eyed.

The art is also quite different then your typical anime and the setting and characters are drawn in an unusual, but fresh way. The art it's self ... compensates for areas where there is minimal animation.

This OVA would have made an even greater series if it was further developed.

Also the shonen ai bit, it's nothing heavy or in-your-face it's not even really shonen ai so if your worried about strange stuff...ect Uchuujin to Tatakaemasu is defiantly pure

Only one episode. The animation is a little broken. But instead of it being broken artistically it just looks a little sloppy. Also the voice acting is just not as good as it could be. Overall it is just mediocre. But after all that slander i personally enjoyed it. Rough round the edges but it left a lot of room for imagination. I am always a fan of suspension of disbelief.

This was perhaps the one of the most touching things I've watched this new year.

If you are a person that likes everything explained and wrapped up nicely in a neat little box, you're not going to like this. However, if you're the type that can enjoy an endearing and heartwarming story, then I promise you won't hate it.

A bit about the plot first - aliens invade the world and attack once a day. Only one boy has the power to fight the aliens but he's lost his memories.

Anything regarding the aliens or why only Kakashi can fight them goes unanswered - and I ... suppose that's mostly because the aliens are the not main point of this story. I interpreted the aliens to be a metaphor for Kakashi struggling against himself. I can't tell you why without giving away the end.

This story asks a question: is the world a kind place?

Kakashi is happy with his new life but he is forced to wonder, does he have friends? Are there people who truly care about him? Why does he have to fight everyday? What happens if he chooses not to fight?

It's a very touching although short story.

The anime is a mix of animation/comic style artwork. Personally, I found it to be rather refreshing with beautiful artwork. It was definitely stylistic and eye-catching, though there were some odd angles but to me it just made the art even more interesting.

And the music... ok, there was a scene where Erik Satie's Gymnopedie started playing and it was like... just perfect. The scene mixed with the music created this heartwarming feeling.

This particular anime is not for everyone. I will say that. But if you're open to something completely different from the norm, and want to see a story that's both happy and sad, then this is the one for you. And I can honestly say, that I started this anime with a frown on my face but by the end, I had a smile.

I'm a total sucker for artsy-fartsy experimental media. And cute gay couples. Lucky for me, this OVA combines both.

The art is the highlight of the series. The thing is, you can tell that the production budget was quite low at times. There are very few moments where the characters engage in dynamic motion. However, the animation masterfully combines the static characters with dynamic elements scattered throughout. It's like a mix between storyboard animation and an acid trip. Despite the low budget, the artwork succeeds in being avant-garde and breathtakingly beautiful, and in no way does it seem low-quality or cheap (cough cough, Aku no ... Hana).

At first, the plot seems quite light and simple, but there's a surprising amount of symbolism. If you can parse the meaning behind the storyline, you'll discover quite a bit of depth. Why are the aliens attacking? Where did they come from? Why do the only attack the main character, Kakashi? There are a few open ends, but this just gives you room to ponder and analyze the story.

Granted, I would have liked there to be a bit more shounen-ai. The relationship between the 2 main characters is cute and all, but don't expect much romance.

Overall, this anime is a work of art. It's not perfect, as I think the ending had some room for improvement, but it's pretty damn outstanding.

This OVA was not what I expected from reading the description, but it was very good anyways.

Story: It basically revolves around the ''what is my place in this world'' theme, which was quite well explained. However I find that it lacks an introduction or setting at the start. The idea behind the story is great, but it woud have been so much better with a second OVA, because as it is it feels kind of incomplete. I find the characters to be a little clichés, but not in an annoying kind of way.

Art: I love the art, it's what I prefer from this short film. ... It is different from what you usually see, but beautiful and very colourful. I don't really like the animation however. It looks as though sometimes it is like a slightly animated manga, and at other times it looks like a normal anime animation. It is not fluid enough.

Sound: The voice acting is great in both the Japanese and English dubs. The music is soft and fits really well. Nothing bad to say here.

Overall: I enjoyed myself watching this. But like I said a bit earlier, the story feels kind of rushed and would have benefited a lot from a second episode. I would recommand for those who like series with a touch of drama and anyone who likes to simply enjoy good artwork.

Man... as a fan of this series, I have to say, this one is probably my favorite OVAs out of all of them. This one actually had me in tears.

Even though compared to some of the other Kono Danshi OVAs the animation isn't the smoothest, I absolutely ADORE the art style of this series. It's so pleasing, stylistic, and memorable, and its lack of animation and heavy reliance on tweening and visual elements really take the cake for me, because it just fits the art style so well. If nothing else, the style is what got me into this series, and for that I'm grateful.

Not ... much can be said about the sound; it wasn't amazing, but it wasn't horrible, either. It was just good - the voiceacting, the ending, the soundtrack - everything. Enjoyable enough.

The characters... well... didn't have much development, but what do you expect? It was a thirty minute OVA, so they don't really matter all that much in terms of personality. Their actions are important, but that more so has to do with the story than with the characters themselves. They were decent enough.

Now as for the story - wow. If you haven't been told this before now, this entire OVA is basically one big metaphor for depression. If you go into it with that knowledge, then everything becomes a whole lot more understandable, and it honestly makes the story so much better. Because without knowing this OVA is supposed to be symbolic, it will appear rather... bland. It will feel fast-paced and random, especially since a lot of questions like "What are the aliens even doing here?" are never addressed. But if you understand the metaphor (and relate to it), this will have you in tears, and everything will fit together perfectly. Quite a few lines that the characters said hit hard. And while not a lot of it actually makes sense in the long run, it's somehow quite moving and memorable. The ending was quite optimistic and satisfying, and it was really relieving to see it end on such a happy note, especially with the kinds of themes it dealt with. Truly amazing.

Ah, yes, I nearly forgot about the shounen ai elemnt. If you came here looking solely for that, then I recommend you go watch something else, because the hints of BL in this are so subtle that I honestly began questioning whether or not this was tagged incorrectly. Unlike some of the other titles in this series, the romance really isn't ever addressed, but since the story is so good and endearing, it's really not something that really matters.

Overall, this is definitely a must-watch, especially since it's only 20-30 minutes long. Amazingly, this had me in tears, and it's one of the most relatable things I've watched since Watamote. The art is breathtaking and some of the most unique I've ever seen, and though the characters and sounds weren't all that special, they were still good enough to be enjoyable. I thoroughly enjoyed this anime, and I recommend it to anyone looking to watch something short, sweet, and yet still memorably good.

This anime is amazing, if you're into sort of an artsy/comic animation style then this is for you.

Let's talk about the art first. The art is outstanding, not everyones cup of tea but it's defiantly mine, it's a unique art style that I don't see in much anime's. It's has a comic feel to it and the way the characters move defiantly fits the art style. The colours are bright and amazing and the character design is something that I love. I rarely see anime's with this art style and I really would love to see more anime's with it in the future.

The plot ... is good, it's quite a basic plot, I can really relate to the main character, Kakashi, and how he feels alone in the world. Brought some tears to my eyes which is quite hard for an anime to do that as I can't really show that much emotions. I felt what Kakashi was feeling and how he felt. The plot also allows some comedy here and there which is nice to see, I laughed a couple of times. Also it is quite short, only 30 minutes but it packs a good short plot which is quite easy to follow and not complicated.

On the shounen ai part, I'd have to say its very subtle, not too flashy or noticeable. its quite heartwarming and nice to see a shounen ai anime which doesn't involve mature stuff. I found it cute and nice to see the characters bond.

I do highly recommend if you love sweet heartwarming anime's and a comic style animation. This is a really good anime to me and is going on one of the best anime's I've seen so far.

If you want an anime about aliens.. this isn't for you. Looking for something deeper?

When you read this animes plot, it says it's about a boy who fighting aliens.
But in realty - it isn't.
The anime uses aliens as a symbolism to tell about inner struggles of a boy.
Pretty cool to watch and put all the pieces together.
