This anime is crazy. But thats why you have to love it. It is pretty much a gag on all other anime out there. Pulling jokes on everything

Most of the time this anime doesnt make sense. And the ultimate story is pretty stupid. but like I said it suppose to be. Its like Scrubs to ER...or better example Reno 911 to COPS.

Its inane, everything in it is for pure humor. Its not suppose to make sense. So don't judge it by its lame art story and characters. Because thats how its suppose to be.

I really thought the ending was something...completely unexpeceted...you must watch to find ... out..

Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo is about accepting yourself as you are. The Hair Hunters represent the pressure of the societal norms and other people's expectations of you. By giving in, you become a sad bald man; Bo-bobo is a shining example of being true to yourself.
Nose hair stands for everything that is deemed disgusting by society, but is still an important part of ourselves. By using his nose hair as a fighting tool against the Hair Hunters, Bo-bobo demonstrates acknowledging your faults and turning them into advantages. Great anime, great message, 10/10.

Here is what bobobo is.

a strange show following a gang of fighters rebeling against an tyranical army attempting to rid the world of hair. The characters are armed with the powers of nose hair, jelly, gas and lots of other things. there is very little sense to be had. Almost every main character acts in strange ways with even stranger powers.

If that sounds good to you then give it a watch. Its a hilarious and imaginative show.
If not then don't watch it. It will give you headaches trying to stick with it.

nothing too revolutionary in terms of art and sound but nothing that will ... push anyone away.

the story is fun but lacks any real strong moments. most of it is just them going from bad guy to bad guy after every arc with no real goal. It is very fun watching it all if you don't mind the lack of anything that makes sense.

most of the characters are fun,but none of them can really stand amoung the best and they have weak moments.

overall. fun for me but most sane people will be pushed away

... STORY:
The story is simple and fun. I thought it moved at a good pace. It's the kind of show you can put on hold for a while without worrying abut forgetting what happened. I like how every episode was different from the next.

ART:
The art is excellent, the cartoony character designs suited the show very well. I never come across an anime that looked quite like it.The exaggerated facial features are the funnest I've seen.

SOUND:
The voice acting is top notch, Richard Epcar,Kirk Thornton, Jamison Price, there are a ton of talented actors contributing to the English dub and their effort paid of big time. The dialog can be lame at times but the voices make up for it.

The music is a joy to listen to I thought alll the songs were great. I haven't heard this style of music used to often.

CHARACTERS:
All of the characters were awesome and funny.Even the one-shot bad guys are entertaining. But Don Patch got on my nerves sometimes.

ENJOYMENT:
To say I enjoyed this show immensely is a massive understatement, It never failed to cheer me up. Evey episode had at least one moment that caused me to burst out laughing uncontrollably, I had a great time watching this with my younger brother.

OVERALL:
Bobobo is a anime that will always be on my all time fav list, every episode is so ridiculous and random that I never got tired of watching it. this show has the best blend of action and comedy I think iv'e ever seen in anime.

An anime so bad that it compelled me to join this site just to negatively review it.

I don't know where to begin with this show. It's a constant assault on the senses with very little substance or strong points. The only strength this show has that I can mention without grasping at straws is that it is somewhat 'creative'. Like children's imagination creative, or horrible fever dream creative. I'm about 40ish episodes in now, forced to watch this through with a friend who is somehow enjoying it so far, please shoot me.

I'll start with story. Now, the show DOES ... technically have a story, albeit an incredibly silly and mind-numbing one, full of obnoxious characters that all behave extremely erratically except for the designated 'normal' person (Beauty). Every once in awhile the show remembers it had a plot and recaps what's going on via narration or a random goon showing up.

Speaking of the characters, they're all awful, just awful. I don't know why so many child-friendly shows out there think it's absolutely mandatory to make all the characters look as ugly as a naked-mole-rat that's been repeatedly stabbed with a fork, but this one does just that.

Bobobo (The main character) is some kind of reality defying abomination formed out of a bunch of geometric shapes arranged loosely into a body builder. His seemingly most defining personality trait is being an awful person to everyone around him. At least he's arguably the funniest and best voiced character in the show.

Don-Patch is another major character that competes with him for screen time and lines. He might be the single worst anime character of all time. He's ugly, he's almost always screaming obnoxiously, his jokes are lame, and he and Bobobo are crossdressing constantly. It's got to be on average at least once an episode, this show LOVES to beat already mediocre or bad jokes into the ground with constant re-use.

Of course what garbage kid's show isn't complete with toilet humor? Enter Gasser, a young boy whose fighting style revolves entirely around farting on things. As if that wasn't cringe-inducing enough, he also defaults into acting like a literal baby when he isn't wearing his choker. Why..? Just.. why..?

Onto the humor, I was watching this in dub so I can't speak for the Japanese jokes, but my god are the jokes terrible in this show. It constantly shotguns pun after pun after pun at you, which many of the events in this anime seemingly only happening because they wanted an excuse to fire off more puns at you. I enjoy puns but the majority of these are so bad and cringe-inducing that I'm considering never uttering a pun again and lobbying to have puns classified as a weapon of mass destruction.

The action and humor in this anime takes the 'more random = more better' approach. Nothing makes sense or seems to have any continuity to it, the characters just scream "WIG OUT" and then a horrible yet colorful cacophony of things happen set to the tune of more bad puns being screamed. It's hard to tell "fight"s apart from the characters behaving normally, and usually it's hard to grasp what even is happening until the "ITSSORANDOMLOL" antics stop and one of the characters goes "AH, I AM DEFEATED, YOU ARE MORE RANDOM THAN I".

I could continue to tear this show apart for ages but I feel like I've made my point.
I wouldn't recommend this to children, teens, adults, masochists, or even sadists.
Maybe toddlers will enjoy it, I'd recommend it for toddlers.
and maybe recommend it to suicidal people that are looking for extra fuel to actually go out and kill their self.

Review 12: Lil' Birds Flock Together, but Only the Early Worm Will Catch Their Death of Cold, so Dress Warmly!

Ladies and germs, weeaboos and otakus alike, hold onto your butts, you're in for the ride of your life. This is the widget series you weren't looking for let alone have heard of. Actually, you might have heard of it and just hadn't seen it, but don't let your ears hog it all, let your eyes feast as your brain fries. And don't let it just be you, bring your friends, your families, your peers, there's plenty to go around. There's something for everybody. And if ... they don't like it and think you're a weirdo for watching something that looks like a Saturday morning cartoon small children would sit in front of the TV drooling over for hours, then they clearly don't know the meaning of mindless entertainment, and they probably watch reality TV.

Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo is the king of mindless entertainment, and it shamelessly boasts it from the rooftops while its nose hairs take you for a spin on your head after you're stuffed into a tutu you never knew you had. But don't worry, you're not the only one dressed up, everyone involved is in a tutu attempting and failing to reenact Swan Lake, it's just that you're the only one spinning on your head. No harm done, unless you're the bad guy.

Oh, I'm supposed to write a review. Sorry, got caught up in the imagery and had to untangle myself. Let's get back on track, shall we?

STORY: Funny, Bo-bobo has no real story. Sort of. It kind of forgets it has a story. It has arcs, I suppose, and like every other shounen series, the arcs span several episodes a-piece, but luckily not to the extent of “They're still on Namek?”. But I'm sure it's parodied somewhere and I just didn't catch it, or the anime never made it that far. The entire show's a parody of Fist of the North Star anyway, although I've yet to really watch it for myself, so that's probably my problem.

But for the set-up, it's the year 300X-and-a-half, and the Margarita Empire's leader sent of a group of Hair Hunters to go around and shave everyone's hair off. A young girl named Beauty was about to lose her head of hair when a tall, muscular man with sunglasses and a blonde afro arrived beating the snot out of them with his Super Fist of the Nose Hair, a fighting style known as “Wiggin”. He's a rebel, and is going around looking for more like him standing up to the tyranny. For the next several episodes, they gather more allies and make new enemies all in the name of hair and insanity. Then it's just insanity the rest of the time like you took a wrong turn on Willy Wonka's boat ride through the tunnel, just with less nightmare fuel and flashing lights. And insanity is both normal and abnormal, depends on which end of the stick you're on.

You'll never get used to it, but it all becomes the norm before you know it. Kind of like with Yellow Submarine, except I don't think Bo-bobo was ever influenced by drugs. At least, nothing official has come out about it. But the show's been described as something Jay Ward (the creator of Rocky and Bullwinkle) would create if he did LSD. So that counts, right?

CHARACTERS: The show has many colorful characters that just grows and they all go bonkers as it continues. What'd you expect from a show that's 76 episodes long? I swear the show bypasses Dragon Ball in terms of its cast, but I'm probably over-exaggerating because there's quite a number of characters that last for an episode or two. So luckily for you, reader, you're going to get acquainted with them right now.

Reader, meet Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, Beauty, Don Patch, Jelly Jiggler, Gasser, Softon, Dengakuman, Hatenkou, Don Patch—wait, I already counted him—King Nosehair, Captain Battleship, Suzu, Serviceman, the Narrator, Over, Torpedo Girl, Giga—wait, where're you going? It's not over yet! I didn't say I was done! *throws a protesting Jelly Jiggler at you to stop you in your tracks*

ART/ANIMATION: This is Toei Animation's animation. No, it's not good, but its simplicity works for the type of show it is. Things get wacky and colorful, so the less strain on the animators' part and the viewers' eyes, the better. The character models are some of the more unique seen in anime, it's one-of-a-kind. At least I think they are. The only other (shounen) anime I can think of more weird-looking than Bo-bobo are Zatch Bell and One Piece, but that was at least from a glance. Which is also weird because Toei did those shows as well. They seem have a knack for doing anime with unique art styles. Or maybe it's because such models are simple enough for them to do limited animation and let's them get away with off-model moments. Seems right up their alley, anyway, and so with Bo-bobo, I suppose they used it to their advantage to make the animation go just about anywhere in quality. And indeed, its animation is one of Bo-bobo's keys to its success in its humor next to the dialogue. And so for a show that first aired back in late-2003, Bo-bobo is pretty much a product of its time in the art department. Not that it's a bad thing.

Also, bonus points for Toei to have actually done adaptations of some of the anime being parodied like Fist of the North Star. Not entirely sure if that was just mere coincidence.

SOUND: I don't know what the Japanese is like, I chose to watch it dubbed. The reason I did this is because the show heavily relies on Japanese pop culture and puns, something that's basically untranslatable and the average non-Japanese-born-and-raised viewer is not going to fully understand. This is pretty much 99% of us on the site, maybe 98%. Whatever, Bo-bobo doesn't care.

So the script was pretty much rewritten for the dub while still maintaining the spirit of the show. Like I'm surprised this wasn't done by Saban Entertainment, who had previously done gag dubs in both Samurai Pizza Cats and Digimon. To further back this up, Jeff Nimoy was one of the screenwriters (and also voiced the character Hatenkou), and the dub is pretty much a Digimon reunion (that spans across the first three seasons). But the actual company behind it was Phuuz Entertainment Inc. (now Unbound Creative, Inc.) with Cloverway Inc.

The voice actors were very stellar for their roles. Richard Epcar is the titular character, and he was pretty much Myotismon while channeling Etemon, which was the best thing I could've asked for. In the Japanese, it's Dio himself, Takehito Koyasu, but it was learning that Mr. Epcar was the main character that sold me on watching it dubbed next to the facts previously mentioned. Philece Sampler is Beauty, who I felt was a better fit for her than Mimi (although despite what I've said in my Digimon review, I've actually been beginning to warm up to her role as Mimi), and she did a fantastic job delivering her lines. Others include Kirk Thornton as Don Patch, which fans agree is his best role and it probably always will be his best if only because the character stole the show, Jamieson Price as the butt monkey Jelly Jiggler, Brian Beacock as Dengakuman (who sounds like he's on helium the whole time, but it's better than it sounds), and of course, Michael McConnohie as the Narrator. For the villains, notable voice actors are Paul St. Peter as Captain Battleship, Liam O'Brien as Over, and David Lodge as Giga.

Pretty solid cast, if you ask me.

The first opening, “Wild Challenger”, is a minute long, but it pretty much sums up Bo-bobo. Not that I'm recommending you just skip the entire show and just watch the opening, because I'm not, but if you just want a quick taste before deciding, go for it. Not that “Baka Survivor” doesn't capture Bo-bobo's spirit, but it took a few episodes for the second opening to grow on me, while the first got me sucked in from the start. You might like it more, though, it just depends on your taste. The endings are an entirely different story. I listened to them, but I was never a big fan. They're not bad, except “Shiawase” makes my ears cringe (but it's an earworm), and I don't remember “Kirai Tune” very well. “H.P.S.J.” at least is something and acts pretty much like a dance party ending for every episode, but that's about it.

ENJOYMENT: I've never taken a picture or recorded myself watching this show (although I've had my webcam on once for a friend who was also watching the show, so he at least knew what went on), but I know what my expression was for every single episode. I'll demonstrate:

I'm leaning in my chair, elbows on my laptop, or desk or wherever else I'm sitting at, chin in my hand. I'm transfixed to the screen, watching and listening intently as my jaw slacks in preparation for an outburst of laughter that'll bring tears to my eyes, or just hangs in awe at what's going on on the screen. My brain can't keep up, and goes into hibernation until the episode ends, or I stop watching for the day. I become a couch potato, reminiscent of my childhood days of sitting in front of the tube watching cartoons. And I feel nothing but bliss.

And that's how I enjoyed my time with Bo-bobo. And I'll do it all over again, although I'd like to watch it with someone else.

So despite my ramblings, I definitely recommend this if you're in the mood for some over-the-top wackiness in your search for widget series. Just don't binge-watch this show. You'll die.

Of laughter. Though you might also die of boredom if this isn't your thing. Bo-bobo doesn't care, but at least the laughter isn't canned like the show was. And that's terrible.

The show being canned, I mean. I'm just making myself sad thinking about it. Still doesn't take away from the enjoyment, thankfully, that's what matters in the end.

There are four words to describe BObobo-bo Bo-bobo:

BATSHIT INSANITY OVER 9000

This anime is wild, random, irrevocably insane, and frenzied. The characters are literally lampooning everything and anything they can get their hands, jellies, hair, feet, pancakes, fishcakes, bags, fingers, dreams, blabbing, ducks, and even narration on. Nothing is safe, and everything is allowed, in this anime - and that is what makes it awesome.

Even the ending, was awesome. All in all, a must watch for those who truly want something hilarious, ridiculously slapstick, and just plain awesome to cheer one up. It never ceases to disappoint.

Now I just had to write this because reading all the other reviews seems to give the complete wrong idea on this anime. Now, I've only seen a handful of episodes of it when it was airing on Adult Swim, and I've gotta say, it was hilarious. It's just so random to the point where you completely forget about the "storyline." Yes, it's hella stupid. No, it doesn't make sense. But THAT ISN'T THE POINT. I found myself dying of laughter everytime something came out of his hair, or he used his "fist of the nose hair."

Like I said, it isn't supposed to make sense. ... If you're someone who cares only about "details" and "development" and have no sense of humor, then this isn't for you. But if you want a good laugh, and can have an open mind, I recommend watching this series. Sure it's long, and I have yet to watch it beginning to end. But please, give this show a chance. XD

You know, when you watch this anime enough time, your thought patterns begin to change. You still get the humor, but your perception has changed. You stop laughing because of how ridiculous it is--you don't even see it as nonsensical anymore.

Your brow furrows, you stop smiling, your eyes stop tearing up with laughter and stare at the screen like the secret of life is going to appear any moment.

That is the moment you stop being a regular viewer.

That is the moment you start to think like a wiggin' specialist.

What goes into the brain is what comes out. If you do nothing but watch bobobo for ... a year, you will become like bobobo.

I love this anime! It's like you can't get enough of it! If you're someone who likes random humor and don't care if it doesn't make any sense at all what so ever, than this is the anime for you! The stories is about a blonde afro guy who has the to grow long nosehair out of his nose and he must use his power to stop an evil army whose trying to make everyone in the world bald. He is join by many unusual characters as well. Such as Don Patch, a orange spike ball thing who thinks he's the main character of the ... show. Jelly Jiggler, a man made of Jello who always has bad luck. And Torpido girl, A woman who is... a torpido. These characters do things that are consider redicuos and have no reason to be there in the first place. Genius! I should just hug the guy who made this anime right now!

Ok look, I just found this site and I've only completed a few anime's, but a lot of them aren't too funny to the average American, I am not gonna lie. This show COMPLETELY defies that, but it's also such a weird show that some people can't watch it no matter how badly they wanna laugh. I am excited to say that I was an exception.

This was the first anime that I watched ALL the way through thanks to older Toonami. I mean I couldn't follow the story at all which is why I gave Story an eight, but for a show about the ... most random, unpredictable, moronically awesome events ever they pulled it off all too well. The art style was solid! I can't say there weren't a few instances of lazy animating (as if other animes dont do that), but if you look at the actual drawings themselves the linework and shading is just really on-point. Plus, they could not have found more creative artists for a comedy show. Sound? Easiest 10 to give on this. The theme song, the voice-acting, the background music? They could not have picked better/funnier sound for such a parody type of show. Literally all the main characters have the funniest voices ever (atleast on the dubbed version, and btw: this is one of the FEW dubbed animes that did a good job). The characters are all... You know what just watch it. It's definitely a love or hate show, I've shown it to a few friends. The humor is MINDLESS, but actually MAKES SENSE and makes fun of a lot of other animes which is the best considering how badly or cliche other shows do parodies.

So this is for you if you like the unexpected, randomness, and shows that are absurdly funny. Not for people who get confused easily, don't like broken story lines, or don't like fun. Overall, 10/10 nose hairs baby. A masterpiece in anime comedy!

What can I say about this odd show? Um… disgusting… crazy… weird? I think all that and more pretty much says what this show is about. The idea of a man using nose hairs to fight off bald men kind of feels really off and that’s only half of it. Gags hit you like waves without any stop. Sometimes they sneak up on you and hit you suddenly.

Lets see, characters are just really odd, Beauty isn’t that pretty and seems to be only there for a cue to say what the fuck was that? About 5 minutes into the first episode, my brain shut ... off and that’s just because of how stupid this all seems.

The art is really odd but yet done to look similar to One Piece. Bobobo is really strange design. He’s white with the large yellow afro just looks strange and has really hard muscular body that reminds me of Armstrong from Fullmetal Alchemist. He has really freaking long nose hairs he uses to fight. Also, he sounds smart, and then does a stupid skit that makes me feel stupid. The strange creatures are really sloppy character designs, and the animation is reused a lot.

The voices are so odd along with everything else. Bobobo sounds like a black man but yet looks more like a disco man. Beauty sounds really whinny and just… I can’t really stand the English dub and the Japanese made me feel clueless. Some of the music is ok, though not all of it works.

Just… I don’t know what else to say about this…This isn’t considered a scar on the Animation world but its on the low side of the peak that’s actually good… depending who you talk to.

Honestly I think out of all the anime I have seen, this one feel so specifically made for me. I've heard of this back in 2015 when I was 12, so why haven't I watched it then? Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo is genuinely one of the most fun and entertaining shows I have watched in years with very lovable spunky characters.

story:
I've heard some people state that bobobo doesn't have a plot, but I personally found the plot pretty easy to follow after the initial ones when the characters are introduced. However, I do agree that it is very secondary to the main focus being the humor. ... I did very much enjoy how the "fights" played out due to the surreal ways that things were solved and it was surprising and fun each time. There is absolutely no amount of seriousness however, and that's ok because it's very much not meant to be so.

art:
Compared to more serious shows in terms of quality, it's nothing special, especially coming from the early 2000's. However, the whole expressiveness and spunky aspect of the character designs (as I will talk more about later) really do make up for it and I love the bright different colors and shapes each of the characters have.

sound:
I love the openings and the third ending, and the seiyuus and english voice actors are all super perfect. Takehito Koyasu as bo-bobo is amazing and I just adore Tokoro Tennosuke's jp voice. He sounds adorable and his range plays into a lot of the gags involving tennosuke very well.

character:
Personally the best thing about the show was the characters for me! I love, love, love LOVE the designs of the non human characters sooooo much. Their shapes are all so different and honestly their concepts are super creative and I believe someone else had already stated this, but I adore how cartoony they look. I personally enjoy cartoons a lot so this was super appealing to me. Also Tokoro Tennosuke/Jelly Jiggler (however you may know him, I watched most of it in sub so I call him Tennosuke) is one of the cutest and funniest characters I have ever seen, god I just can't help but feel an extreme amount of happiness when that guy shows up on screen. I love him so much, my whole gallery is filled with screenshots of him. Their dynamics are all super funny and I love how much their dynamics play into the humor and the way the strange solution to each fight will be solved. The human characters also have pretty neat designs, especially the villains. If they were in a serious show I don't think they would stand out to me as much, but with the context they way the human characters are designed with their personalities really does help it feel more like it's parodying a typical shounen and I think that's so fun, plus it contrasts how ridiculous the non human characters look and feel. I do really like how creative a lot of the abilities are, however. Also I just wanna point out how cute the dynamics can be sometimes. Like those little moments with Tennosuke teaming up with Heppokomaru, or with Torpedo girl treating Don Patch and Tennosuke as her students, and even the way how Bo-bobo wants to keep Beauty safe (in contrast to how he treats the other main characters lol).

overall:
Overall I think if you like really spunky cartoons, have seen general shounen anime before, and don't mind very weird and randomized illogical humor I would absolutely reccomend Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo! It has made me so much happier and I am definitely planning on rewatching the entire thing in the dub after I finish it in the sub, and I think you should check out both the sub and dub as well! Both have different ways with going about the humor but both are spectacular from what I've seen.

First of all I would like to post a warning, if you cannot liberate your soul, this anime will feel like someone putting acid into your mind.

because that is what this anime does, it liberates the characters' souls so they can do things above the logical and physical world.

Bobobo is visibly seen as using his nose hair to attack with, but the underlying and real power of his attacks is Hajike (dub. Wiggin' Out) and it is this power, that hits the audience, he takes wordplays and uses them to attack with, he attacks his allies, he does attacks with no visible effect. All this ... is to induce a state of WTF in the opponents' minds so they will submit to his will. that's the power that hits us. so liberate your soul and understand what he does to you, he also does to the opponents.

The story is, granted a little thin, trying to wipe hair of off the face of the earth. (pun not intended) it is a story which in and off itself shouldn't have had a manga or anime, but the memorable characters and the tone of the show made it work, so it's a fair idea.

The art on this show is Top-notch simply because they often change the art style, to best suit their current gag. not many shows change the art style to suit the mood.

The sounds has a few minor problems, when the characters speak they speak so fast that not all things are audible. But other than that, the music, the SFX are as good as can be.

Most of the characters are memorable, I'll go over the main team to not give away spoilers. (jelly jiggler doesn't count since he is in every opening.)

Bobobo:
The successor of the super fist of the nose hair, and king of wiggin' out.
he attacks his allies, dresses & acts like a woman/girl at times, uses the squirrels in his head to dramatic effect. But most of all his most powerful attack is his patented, "Bobobo World" which is a separate dimension where the minds of the opponents and ours are really put to the test. he can also fuse together with the his allies to create powerful warriors.

Don Patch:
The 'main' character, as seen by himself, he also attacks Bobobo and Jiggler
but different from Bobobo, he has no qualms about attacking beauty and gasser as well, something Bobobo refrains from. Most people can't stand Don Patch because of his MASSIVE ego. but he isn't so bad later on.

General Jelly Jiggler:
A former Hair hunter General of A block joins them after Bobobo purchases him in the local supermarket, he is often the most abused sine he is made out of Jelly. While Initially panicked he takes it with a cool attitude later on.

Beauty:
The only sane 'man' in this group, she acts as the eternal Tsukkomi to everyone else's Boke, (Japanese Stand-up Comedy Duos) initially that is her major role but later on she just becomes a nagging and whining teenager. most of all "Why can't I get a pony?" she is also the one who most of the time argues with the narrator, and breaking the fourth wall.

Narrator:
Yes I think of him as a character who is simply not on screen, since he does such a stupendous job, he deserves a lot of credit. he recaps the episodes with as many puns as he can find.

Every other character joins and leaves them at regular intervals.

now on to the enjoyment. I set it at a 8, since again my mind becomes filled with acid when I watch too much of it. That's why I leave it there.

Overall it's worth a shot, initially to see if you can "Liberate your soul" if you can't, you learned something new about yourself.

Well ill start off with the fact that this is the anime that got me into watching anime in the first place.
Ive always loved the pure randomness and slapstick style comedy. This show nails it on the head, the story didn't really click or really follow a path. But It was the most entertaining and hilarious show I believe I ever watched. It instantly can be put you in a good mood. To warn you it is sheer randomness, it would impossible to predicate anything, and thats best part. If you are dedicated to other story driven animes and hardcore character delvope. You might just ... actually hate this show. But if you want comedy and just one of the most obscure view experiences ever, I highly recommend it then!!

Featuring the antics of a very hairy man and his equally silly sidekicks in their stand against an evil balding empire, Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo is as zany and over-the-top as it gets. There isn't really a story so much as an engine to kick the comedy into overdrive, a ridiculous shonen premise with absolutely no breaks between the gag-filled battles ... most of the time. Bobobo and his gang take on the various factions of the evil Chrome Dome Empire, going from base to base to take on the endless hordes of bad guys along with various allies that come and go to suit the show's ... needs. There are no cute or beautiful girls here, contrary to what the heroine's name would have you believe, but there is plenty of testosterone and animate food like pop rocks and jelly men among other things.

Characters? Just know that Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo is the driving force here; his personality largely amounts to mass random outbursts that belie his manly appearance (sort of), along with a healthy dose of nosehairs, cross-dressing and beating up some of his allies for added comedic effect. Secondary character Don Patch isn't too much different, only he is something of a butt monkey and more prone to over-the-top and violent outbursts. And then we have Jelly Jiggler, a more pitiful jelly man and a big butt monkey who often finds himself being a literal punching bag when he's not joining in on gags. Other characters include the token pink-haired teenage shonen heroine who exists for the sake of having a straight man; and a white-haired, edgy teenage boy who fights with his farts and also exists to give commentary and to perhaps be a parody of more popular Jump heroes. There are other recurring characters like a tiny dough man, a torpedo woman, an ice cream head man and a blonde psychic who literally does nothing, but the main starts of the show are the ones who enforce the comedy that comprise the show. Dozens of villains exist; most are piddly in more ways than one, largely existing as fuel for the comedy as their over-the-top skills are overcome in absurd ways. Some are slightly decent for the sheer memage they can enforce, but we're not here to see great villains, no? There are other animes for that.

Though I ranked this anime a 6, I must confess that I think more highly of it at its best and much more lowly of its worst moments. That "worst" aspect is right at the start for roughly the first 10 episodes, where Bobobo only has the pink hair as his companion for the most of it and he the majority of the onscreen time waffling about in little episodic trifles and boring gags. This I would rank a 4 or even a 3 on its own, it's that boring. It gets a little better after that, and continues to get better and better as the show progresses - of which I would rank a 7 if I could. Episode 43 is where it starts to get good, as the show dumps a rather obnoxious straight man and really gets rapid-fire into its comedy through its non-stop fights, the core aspect of the show that makes it truly enjoyable. There's not a truly dull moment at this point on, always managing to throw in something new to keep things fresh right until the very end.

Bobobo is a niche anime to watch purely as a comedy and nothing else. Seventy six episodes is indeed long, but the sheer randomness and lack of consistency among character depth and immersion mean that you don't have to know what's going on to to enjoy yourself and keep going from that point. Personally, I would suggest to skip the first half of the entire anime (or at least the first 10-25 episodes) if you're coming in to see the show at its best, though the first episode is perhaps somewhat obligatory as a slight - introduction - of sorts.

First off let me say that...Usually somthing with no plot what so ever kinda draws me to it.

But oh you say bobobo-bo(what ever) has a plot? he defeats monsters with his mustache? How in the world is that a plot?

Ugh this show is utter crap...I only saw a few episodes but it was so stupid to me that i gave up on it. My brother how ever he loved it, but my brother doesn't like to focus on anything. So he is drawn to bobobobobobo(WHAT EVER) like no tommarrow. Ugh...Don't watch this show. It rots your brain.

IF you love at the other reviews, you either ... Loved it because it was funny or hated it because it was retardedly stupid.

I could watch this foolishness over and over all day. Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo has infinite “crackhead energy.” This is a show that is equally as fun in both the dub and sub. The first season actually has a semblance of a plot and multiple callbacks to random flashbacks. Nothing here makes sense, and that is its true beauty.

I like light-hearted, quirky characters, so watching this show has always been a blast for me. If you don't like slapstick and zany characters, your enjoyment will probably skew much lower than mine.

Bo-bo-bo turns common anime tropes on its head while cracking an egg and frying two strips ... of bacon on it as well. I have re-watched this anime 5 times just for the ridiculous antics and lovable characters.

Weird how out of all the anime that could've been my first, that this niche, insane show was the one that introduced me to the concept of anime. You would've been able to see it late at night, 11-12 pm. Back when i was a child, i fell in love with the show, my dad even burned all of the episodes onto DVD.

The show was a lasting memory on me, as i had never seen anything like it beforehand. Even now, a decade later, i still watch it every now and then, and love it. While the story is simple and takes a backseat to ... the comedy, it still does its job well in being a canvas for all of the other elements to be splattered on. The characters help in supplying all of the visual comedy, and each do fantastic jobs in their roles. The music, however, is undeniably an underrated highlight. The show can cover a whole host of moods, from humorous, to dramatic, to surprisingly serious.

One part of the show that hasn't aged that well, however, is the animation. The animation, although good in terms to visual comedy, can oftentimes look awkward, especially with the character designs, which can at their worst, look blocky and crude.

Overall, it was no mistake that child me gravitated to this show, because it really is quality.

Bobobobobo is a personal favorite purely due to how utterly insane it is.

The anime censored and changed many things from the manga to make it more child friendly but that isn't a bad thing. It's still hilarious.

Bobobo's humor relies on heavy Japanese troupes and slapstick comedy.

Some examples are Bobobo "training" at a supermarket with "master tuna" to earn a new $10 jacket. Or aliens obsessed with making people drink green tea. Yes, its very nonsensical.

The plot revolves around a man named Bobobo, a master ... of the Secret Fist Of The Nose Hair trying to stop the hair hunter empire from making everybody bald. He might also be completely insane.

He is joined by Beauty, a pink haired girl, Don Patch, an orange spike ball that has multiple personalities, Jelly Jiggler, a former hair hunter General who just wants to be loved and always ends up on the wrong side of things, Softon, a man with a literal ice cream head and Heppokamaru, a boy whose martial art is literally farting.

The humor is very outlandish as per Japanese humor. It's always what you least expect to happen that happens.

Such as a man trying to eat spaghetti on a toilet while cats rain down on him. Yes. That is an actual scene.

Animation wise, it's fairly dated but still holds up. It looks like any 2000s anime you'd see on Toonami in 2008. It's in 480p quality and a 4:8 resolution.

Sound is good in both sub and dub, I personally grew up with the dub but the sub is also very enjoyable. The only thing changed is the dub "Americanized" many things to make it easier for non Japanese audiences.

If you've never seen an episode of Bobobobo i highly recommend you watch it.

Why? Because the humor is just so bizarre that you can't help but laugh at how nonsensical it is.

Characters will cross dress, they'll turn into different animals, they'll even fight amongst themselves for no reason.

The show knows that it makes no sense and it doesn't have to. The humor is genius. What other show has an enemy dressed like a stereotypical soldier whose base of operations is a LITERAL water slide at an amusement park?

If you ever need to laugh, Bobobobo and his sweet afro full of squirrels will always do the trick.
