both are from the haydays of the cyberpunk anime era, Female cyborgs are the main charachters, while both are considered a ´masterpiece´ that still stands today with mature animefans, as well the inspirations to make such extraordinary artworks

Another cyberpunk anime with a cyborg heroine as the lead role.

A young cyborg girl is given another shot at life by the hands of a compassionate and talented individual (which serves as a kind of mentor or parental figure), and must fight to survive in a rather hostile environment, either due to circumstances ("Gunnm") or a troubled past ("MS"). Expect much action and crude violence, but some touching scenes as well: violence always brings its lot of suffering, which is well represented in both series. While "MS" has become fairly well known recently, "Gunmm" is a classic (especially the manga), a forerunner of the steampunk genre, and it deserves much credit.

They have a robot girl as the main character. The content is about human life, relationship and two class society.

The two are very similar: There is the modification of bodies with machinery, there is a higher 'other city' that is supposed to be paradise, a character whose backstory is mysterious is the main character, the themes of despair in an uncivilized society are strong in both, the color palettes are nearly identical.

Both Inuyashiki and Gunnm (Battle Angel Alita) feature machines that look like humans. Both anime deal with themes of what it means to be human and not artificial. They are also both action-packed anime filled with violence, blood and gore. If you like one, you will enjoy the other.

Strong-willed and clever, Iria and Gally are both mercenaries trying to make a name for themselves in a bleak future.

- Part of an experiment, a girl (Gunnm is cyborg, in Genocyber biological weapon) discovers that its function is to fight, in a cruel world. Where your feelings get all your anger, to achieve happiness with the person you love.

Both anime have a robotic girl character.

Votoms Finder and Gunnm have very similar world building. In both anime, the main characters live in a poor place, which is located below a big city where only the wealthy live. Both anime are quite action-packed, and contain mecha and dystopian elements.

Both are post-apocalyptic sci-fi shows that have androids as protags and that deal with similar themes/topics (e.g. what it means to be alive). Nier:Automata is more on the actiony side in comparison.

Both have a hellhole place (where the protagonists live) and a paradise-like place.

Both have a very bleak tone and no major villain or high stakes to the plot. They also take place in a very beautiful and fantastic setting that feels real due to its worn look and the story's bleakness; one gets the sense that the world of Casshern Sins could have looked like Gunnm before the apocalypse. There is also an amnesiac cyborg with mysteriously strong fighting ability for a protagonist and similar fight scene choreography.

'90s OVAs that take place in a beautiful dystopian scifi world and feature cyborg/android protagonists who fight with their bare hands against larger enemies.

The events of both anime happen in a futuristic world, where the existence of robots is normal. In both anime, the male protagonist is a young, orphaned street urchin, who often commits petty crimes in order to gather enough money to undertake a life-changing journey. Both anime explore similar themes, such as differences between humans and machines, bounty hunting and the oppression of the poor class. They have a very similar vibe.

Both very well known in the CYBERPUNK genre where the future is both ruled by man and machine, whereas the borderline between human and machine remains it almost forgotten, from oldskool violent masterpiece short story (alita), to a one of a kind animation with 3-d elements masterpiece (ghost in the shell 2)

similiar cyberpunk.

Blood, drama, female protagonists. Nice fight scenes too. Polemic with a good story.

Battle Angel Alita and Dimension W are series set in near dys- or utopic societies in the future. Both feature young women, with a cat motif, who are empowed by technology and take an interest in bounty hunting. Both are flanked by a grizzeld old veteran of the profession and have bodies that are much more sophisticated than any bounty hunter has need of.

Story is quite different, but very similiar in style.

Different look and feel but there is a female enhanced with cyborg-like technology. Expresses exceptional strength, speed and agility.

Both are dark sci-fi anime which take place in dystopian cities. Both have post-apocalyptic elements, brooding atmospheres and explore the relationships between humans and machines. Also, both have a strong main character who is skilled at weaponry and who usually battles against other machines.

a lot of ova's in the 80's and 90's were based on futuristic idea's and cyberpunk movie's, with groundbreaking concepst like these 2 ova's . hiatus or not, golden classics!

Watching Kite made me suddenly think of Battle Angel Alita. They both are oldschool with good grapics, has an assassin girl as a main character and rich for action and violence. Except Battle Angel Alita has much less erotic scenes
