I have talked to anime fans, they're alright. 6/10, close to a 5.
I rarely interact with the community, but if you send a friend request I'll likely accept (PMing a reason also helps). Feel free to recommend me anime/manga or ask for a recommendation.
I mostly read manga at this point, so most reviews will be about those.
All Favorite Rankings are from Left to Right. After some thought, I've decided to disclude protagonists in my favorite anime/manga from my favorite characters listing. If I love one of those, I probably like the main character.
Since my rating system is slightly different than MAL's descriptive words, here's a summary:
10- Masterpiece. Not necessarily perfect, but so idealistically and structurally unified on every front that the experience feels entirely memorable and beautiful.
9- Excellent. Maybe lacking in some way, like themes or art, but a truly worthwhile piece of art nonetheless.
8- Great. Something I really enjoyed for the most part. Maybe one part was bad, maybe the plot isn't great, something's holding it back.
7- Pretty Good. If I give something a 7/10, I may or may not want to reread it. Stories here are usually enjoyable but lacking in any deeper level to appreciate, whether that be characters or presentation or themes.
6- Solid. Better than it is worse. I like it, but i probably wouldn't read it again.
5- Mediocre. Worse than it is better. Absolute average is in between 5 and 6, so an average series could go either way.
4- Bad. Has one or two elements that are good, but it's mostly either poorly executed or very uninspired.
3- Awful. I have little investment in the characters, the story isn't thought out, art could maybe be good but not necessarily in a way that properly enhances the story.
2- Horrible. Something where pretty much everything is bad, art, characters, story, etc... However, it may be comprehensible or have passion.
1- Atrocious. Genuinely the worst in every way, usually funny or sad in how bad it is, as if few people working on it even cared.
This is a tentative description. Some series have peaks and valleys, some have a lot of character depth but have a bad plot, etc...

Yorknew was good. I liked it too, and it's my favorite arc. I have no complaints other than that I don't particularly like Kurapika. Greed Island is underrated; it's solid actually.
Now, the one arc I'm most conflicted about is the Chimera Ant arc. It's bad and really good. I'm not a fan of Knuckle, Shoot, and I was not a fan of how slow the arc was in the anime. I dropped the anime and went to the manga instead, but it was still not so interesting. The little training arc was boring. Somewhere in the middle, it became just boring with all these boring fights with the squadron leaders. The only good things in the arc are Meruem, Komugi, and Netero. Everything else felt like a side dish, just not as interesting as the main thing. I seriously did not like how this arc was handled. I agree with you saying the fights and characters are good but the plot is "eh" and the way it was presented was also "eh," and this is only for the Chimera Ant arc.
The paneling and some moments are great, though.
Also, I have already seen HxH. I'm just re-experiencing it, so no need to worry about spoilers or anything except if it's beyond the anime adaptation.
I'd like to hear your full opinion on Chimera Ant arc.
