It's just all too fucking funny. Nailing the absurdity of what is and isn't popular, leaning even harder into the "lies" the whole industry is built upon, but still showing the work that goes into the lies. Aqua and Ruby are like the yin and yang of Ai (one all cynicism the other all sincerity) Don't let anyone beat you to that "first kiss" Kana !! |

Like why does every anime has to add this shit. This anime would be amazing without it and adding it just makes the characters worse imo In episode 1, before his death and reincarnation, he said he didn't loved Ai that way, he just really thought she was an amazing person for the way she did her job, he respected her a lot, but again, he wasn't in love with her. Yes, for a moment he did thought about dating her because of a question the nurse asked, but he just ignored it, and I mean that's a really normal reaction from his part, if it were a possibility then sure, but he didn't had that kind of feelings towards her so who cares, it was impossible anyways. The fact he talked about Ai as being "his first love", and him literally having mental boners just thinking about being breastfeeded by Ai when he was just a baby really doesn't suit him one bit. Now, about Ruby liking Aqua, that's a bit more complicated. I think their relation as twins is executed really well, but you must consider that in their past live she did liked him, yeah yeah, I know, she was only 12y/o, had cancer and died, while he was his doctor and (of course) way older than her, but it's not that uncommon to see kids (at least in anime/manga stories) telling an adult they love him. Sarina (Ruby) literally said she wanted to marry him, and to that he, taking it as a joke, responsably said he would "consider" it when she was 16 (legal age in Japan). Since she sadly passed soon after that we never knew her true feelings, if it was "real love", but we did know she really did liked him, or his company at least, and one can assume he felt the same way. I don't read the manga but it wouldn't be that weird if Aqua and Ruby find out who they were in their past lives and have a breakdown of emotions and complicated feelings because of it, maybe Ruby will really fall in love with him, I guess we'll just have to wait to find out. I'm not a fan of incest stories but I cannot deny that it would be some great and interesting drama. Still, I would like to say I doubt we will see anything like that in this plot, but considering how now, supposedly, Aqua was IN LOVE WITH HIS OWN MOTHER, I wouldn't bet on it. I honestly agree. I'm not even saying Aqua and Ruby's feelings or mindset isn't realistic to some extent because we know they're a lot of adults who simp for teenage idols, I just wish they wouldn't keep alluding to the fact that Aqua might have a mother complex. Like it was already weird in his past life because of the promise he made to Ruby before she was reincarnated. Like dude was attracted to only teenagers as a grown man lol. Regarding him and Ruby, I've noticed that almost every anime that has siblings or cousins gotta add some weird stuff even if it's for jokes. Like I wasn't even concerned about Ruby getting mad at Aqua being on the show until their stepmother pointed out that she was jealous. This is why I wish we had another male character in the show so Ruby can have a love interest because I really hope this doesn't become a harem I guess some people are just incapable of watching a series with mature themes without getting irritated by it. It's honestly, not even that weird given the context. Not like he asked to be born as Ai's son, it just happened, and it's not like you should expect his feeling toward her to change just because of that. It's why he not once ever called her his mom. He doesn't have a mother complex, he has an Ai complex. Plus, the series makes it pretty clear that he doesn't even necessarily consider it romantic love. Which they have alluded to many times within the series. Likely his feelings toward Ai are more like strong admiration, and came about as a coping mechanism to deal with Serina's death, which given how she spent her time in the hospital most of her life... he was probably with her for quite some time. And based on the flash back during his death it seems like he doesn't have any family. It showed a picture of what might have been his mom or grandmother and the only reason I can think they would show that is because she is dead and was his only relative left or only one he was close to. So, in a way Serina probably was like family to him. Now in regards to Ruby, I highly doubt she has any romantic feelings toward Aqua as of this moment (that could change if she finds out who he is). Plus, I don't even think Miyako was hinting at that Ruby was jealous in a romantic way. I think that's just you reading too much into what she was saying because you want to find something to complain about. Ruby was more mad because it's her brother and he was behaving very different than what she is used to. So in a way it can come off as if he only behaves that way when she is not around, which would likely irritate any sibling. Whereas Kana probably was more along the lines of feeling jealousy. Last but not least, the show never once suggests he was attracted to only teenagers. I would even argue his response to Serina was to give her some form of goal or hope to live and wasn't necessarily meant as something he was actually going to consider doing. As for him not being able to answer the nurse's question, it's because he was obsessed with AI. Would any fan say no? I doubt it. They either would say yes, or they wouldn't answer. It be different if it was illegal in Japan, then it would be an instant no because that's how society is. I don't think anyone said they didn't enjoy the show. Just because we like something doesn't mean we can't critique or have some issues with it. You're trying really hard to justify this when it's commonly known that incest and age gap relationships are very common in anime. Also, Aqua literally said he doesn't know if his love for Ai is romantic or not implying he doesn't know why. Secondly, I'm not saying he's ONLY attracted to teenagers but so far, we've only seen him show any affection towards them and I'm predicting he's going to fall for the redhead girl. You can try to justify or defend my problems but it's not going to change how I feel. I can critique the anime and still love it overall Didn't really say anything about whether or not you enjoyed the show. In terms of critiquing, it comes off more like you just want to complain at any hint of their being incest or age gaps within relationships even when that hint is honestly quite a stretch and just comes off like you are looking for it, and seeing it where it doesn't exist. Or you are not understanding the context of it all. And whether or not it's common in anime doesn't mean it's occurring here. And even if it was, as you said... it common. So why would you complain about it? That would be like me complaining about any hint of fan service. The heck are you watching anime if it bothers you? Just get over it already. XD Now as for what Aqua says. Ya, he isn't really sure it was romantic love. And? That doesn't imply it was romantic love. The only thing it means is, he isn't sure. Which to be frank, is more honest than most people would be in such a situation. I don't mind critiques, but I think your arguments have been pretty unsubstantiated, and you are blowing it way out of proportion. None of what he has shown to anyone comes off as romantic in nature. Also, affection isn't always someone trying to get romantic. I would even argue his actions and inner thoughts are a pretty good indication that it isn't romantic love. Now as for me, I can't see him getting in a romantic relationship with anyone any time soon. Certainly not with the way he currently is. If he moves past the death of Ai, then maybe. But let's say it does occur, this is personally where I give in a bit. Cause when would it be ok for him to date anyone? There is always going to be an age gap. I think the obvious answer would be to not be Rudy from Mushoku Tensei lmao. Beyond that at least wait till it's legal. In this case 16 - 18 depending on where you live. How else would you go about this as someone who has been reincarnated? If you don't consider that moral, then when would it become moral and why? Any number you choose to me just would seem arbitrary. Now in terms of incest, personally I don't care. If two consenting adults who happen to be related with one another wanna date and they understand the complications that can occur in regards to procreation by doing so, and so they don't have kids. I don't at that point care. Would I think it's weird? Sure, it probably even pretty darn awkward the moment I find out. But you know what, it's not like it really matters. Nothing bad is going to happen. The world isn't going to implode. Just because something is common in anime, doesn't mean it isn't weird or something I should accept. I also just feel like a lot of times it's unnecessary and a lot of anime would be good without it. I don't even mind people who are reincarnated dating if they're mind is also adapting to their physical age but Aqua has also been mature since birth so it would be a little weird imo but at least he's not trying to groom or be a perv like Rudy as you mentioned. Overall, I just personally don't see the appeal or reason to have it in here even if it is a small hint or implication because if it's not doing anything to the plot then why even have it in here? We'll just have to agree to disagree |

Overall, I just personally don't see the appeal or reason to have it in here even if it is a small hint or implication because if it's not doing anything to the plot then why even have it in here? We'll just have to agree to disagree Well, accepting that it occurs in anime and that complaining about it is useless, is something you should probably do. When it comes to critiquing things I generally think it makes way more sense to critique it on something it did poorly on rather than bring up things I personally don't like in regards to a cultural difference where the series comes from. Cause those things are done on purpose, there is no use in critiquing it on that. It be like watching anime and complaining about pink haired characters. Like ... ok. I guess. But why? Just ignore it lmao. As for not seeing the appeal of the reason to have it in here, I don't think it does. As I said, I think you are reading WAY too much into it. Even calling it a hint is such a stretch as it's more about the parasocial relationships between idols and fans and how that in a way can be difficult to navigate on an emotional level. And if you don't think it's doing anything for the plot, it just to me sounds like you don't understand what this series is about. I could understand someone having an issue with Mushoku Tensei a lot easier than Oshi no Ko. And even in Mushoku Tensei I don't have an issue with the anime, I have an issue with Rudy as a character. It doesn't bother me that a series depicts these things because I am a mature adult and I can handle it. It's fiction. Not real. |

Kana and Ruby syncing has to be the cutest thing this season and the show dishing us how 'real' the reality is in tv shows was quite nice. Aqua begging Kana to join and gas lighting her was quite fun to see. He knows she's susceptible to pressure and he's working around it. The youtube collaboration and the green screen for memes and edit was ingenious. Modern day marketing at it's finest! B komachi has debuted and Ruby not wanting the start of the group to be based on lie was precious to see. I reckon she has really learned from her mum's life. All in, it was such a nice episode and I'm looking forward to see Ruby-kana dynamic the most! |

Good episode. Kana finally coaxed and convinced by aqua especially to join strawberry productions, the little schemer. But i like how he told that everything he told kana was true, so he does trust her and also finds her cute. Kana just grows on me more, her character is just developing nicely for now, even though she was sweet talked into joining an idol group she was thinking practically about her options and various parameters, shes selfish for herself in that manner which is good but also sweet that she cares for others as well, (also for the fact smitten with aqua). Her caring genuinely for ruby and looking after her like how aqua entrusted her to like a big sister. wholesome. Also i love how both of them get agitated together over aquas fake acting. xD We getting into the dating show and reality behind it, pretty much as expected the drama, tension all which is crafted for the audience to devour. We get to meat Akane and memcho, memcho stood out more tbh for this episode and shes a youtuber.(also i love fanged girls) . Yuki sumi was also interesting with her conversations with aqua, girl knows her stuff. Aqua bearing all this cause producers actually might have info on guys might have dated, mans still on sacrificing path. Hes still not over his "love" and admiration for AI, so i guess nothing romantic for him rn since hes focused, but who knows maybe in the future someoene will be the light in his life like ai was? i can see that potential in someone rn. but thats a topic for another day. Ruby and kana finally begin their miniature "Debut" with a streamer named pieyon and i just gotta say the whole ordeal was just gold. We learn more about idol history promotions to present scenario from miyako (shes the best) explaining how the culture has shifted online and so the collab begins. Loved everything from the comical aspects (100 mil yen per year apology) etc. the dance, the commentary, pieyons personality, muscle flex and energy all of it. i like his character on a serious aspect as well, he knows his stuff as well. All of it was just too good. Also interesting note that ruby doesnt want to begin her career with lies which quiet contrasts what Ai used to pursue on (even though it was taught to her to be successfull and eventually ate her from the inside) and since kanna wants to be like ai. We'll see if she holds on to this belief for long. Also finally we have a name for the group "B-Komachi" sounds quite nice for a idol group imo. |

What a way to come back to anime, holllyyy shit. I'm glad I started watching this show, back to the episode; we see how fixated Aqua is on finding the person responsible for his mothers death.. practically erasing his past life, and being fully drawn in by it. He goes so far, as to take on an acting gig with a cringy dating show. |

I almost forgot about the youtuber in the manga, very funny dance scene, and the voice fits the characters really well, so high-pitched and insane. |

EP 5, big falloff in comments this time eh? Kinda ironic episode, but whatever. i dunno i mean im kinda conflicted about the whole ruby and kana thing and aqua definitely isnt helping meanwhileeee something something trope also how late is after school and/or is it just the sunset? i mean it remains to be seen, but like, its ep 5 out of 11, and honestly considering aqua and ruby are the main characters it feels like they've not been on screen that much. but eh. i mean i know i have high expectations but still, considering Im not sure if its intentional (probably could be but you never know), but while there's some cutting corners here and there, there sure is a lot of like "photogenic"(?) scenes due to pacing or otherwise, its been a few episodes already and not only does ruby not have much scenes if any, like i know it needs time but they keep talking about her potential but eh. kana is pretty like. i guess maybe the whole anime and here being a (former)(child) actor is a thing im not sure how i feel about all the callbacks and flashbacks to ai, it feels like a cheap way, at the same time like kind of flimsy artistic license (it was over 10 years ago man) i mean it still remains to be seen about kana, but i wonder if she'll "figure out" the whole thing about ai, ruby and aqua. since they have the picture of ai just hanging around in their house, but there's no guarantees really. not sure though how ruby is going to work if kana isnt willing You know they always talk about how anime characters/children/students dont act their age, but it feels even more jarring here. aqua is reincarnated i guess, while ruby if anything acts the most "normal". while kana is kana and of course to nobody's surprise, kana "changes her mind" after some "convincing" by aqua. i'm not super happy about this, it feels very like contrived. we'll see bit of a character dump here. individually given the time it would have been somewhat interesting, but i doubt they have the time unless they literally spend all the remaining eps on this. (surely they cant possibly be? but who knows) so it seems aqua will be completely acting in character the whole time, for better or worse. i mean they are dropping some hints, but ehh. a good point though, aqua doesnt seem the type for romance right now (though as long as kana is in the picture she might or might not have a chance) (and i have no idea about ruby either) one thing that i always wonder is what happens when they're not on the show. hurr to nobody's surprise, or rather. like, apparently ruby is not allowed to have any screentime, the moment we have any ruby screentime and its back to aqua. feelsbad. not one but two flashbacks to ai in one episode, gotta exploit dem all i mean so far we havent really had any outright like antagonistic or nasty people, but maybe they're going on the more "realistic" "nuanced" side. and/or its still early in other news, back to ruby and kana aaand. its kind of ironic how they have screentime about not having any work to do somehow i have a bad feeling that kana is going to get shafted, but well in the end, the whole famous thing is something im not really sure 100 million yen a year? "ok sure whatever you say dood" soo....they're just gonna use an already pre-established existing personality to boost their own popularity? bleh. a bit too...."non idealistic" for me i have to be honest, like, i dunno, but it really feels like they're trying to see how much wacky stuff they can get away like i was cringing so much anyway, its over. so ruby and kana. well its better than nothing, but it remains to be seen. next time seems we're gonna be dealing with whatever happens on aqua's side. still though...ruby just straight up reusing the name of a previous idol group? not just cheesy but is that even legal? im still waiting for the secret to just get out and everyone losing their minds, but i doubt that'll happen (anytime soon) A lot of scenes of ruby and kana talking I guess. Due to the nature of things its pretty much impossible(?) for ruby and aqua to be "on set" together, or at least not anytime soon. Kana and aqua though, hmm. Well we wont have to wait long, though I'm wondering if the reality show is going to drag 2 or even 3 episodes. Bunch of "new"(?) characters this time. Memcho is okubo rumi?? oh my. I mean her voice was vaguely familiar but not quite who I was expecting. Otherwise uh...I already forgor the name of the others. Rip EDIT: They kinda glossed over it but rip the school for now. Not sure how they're gonna balance that with all the other stuff. EDIT 2: Gonna throw out a random conspiracy theory, but I'm saying there's a chance the producer dude gets offed or conveniently disappears/"forgets" and aqua is back to no lead. Not likely to happen, but you never know |

If Ruby and Kana are true to themselves and put their Funny Man/Straight Man bit on YouTube, they'll be popular in no time! |
