Overall, it feels refreshing to watch since they aren't taking themselves too seriously, and it's a very enjoyable show. Will it be remembered in the giant shuffle of the isekai anime deck? The characters aren't very memorable, and the show is more like civ5 than a usual isekai. But if you like when the MC has boss powers but chooses to fool around and just enjoy living in an isekai, than this is the show for you. Not for everyone, but a fun watch as long as you don't take it too seriously.

Lie down, try not to cry, cry a lot. Is this movie perfect? No. But I enjoyed it, and I think it did a great job encapsulating the feeling of this characters life before/during/after the war. Some may not like the nichijou quality of this movie, but I think it was the perfect way to highlight war and its impact on daily life. the writers make you identify with the main character (the mother) even though you aren't a tiny Japanese woman raising werewolves. Even from the beginning, you feel for the main character as she fumbles through life, especially watching the strained relationship with her sister-in-law. And then in the end, you can feel her frustration and despair as war is declared over, but her life has been permanently changed. In one particular scene, she cries out about how 'there are still four people here' to continue war efforts. I think this was one of the most powerful scenes that isn't usually seen after wartime, when the cause people had to sacrifice so much for was suddenly over and they were expected to return to live their lives. On the whole the movie may not seem as striking as Grave of the Fireflies, but I think it is one of the best movies that carries the sentiment of the common people at the time. I highly recommend this movie as an example of using animation to convey complex emotions using beautiful yet simple storytelling and visuals.

Having watched a variety of slice of life shows I went into this anime with some decent expectations, and despite the high average score on MAL I was disappointed and confused at the end. The first episode starts in a formulaic drama style: spunky girl gets put into an unexpected situation with a funny cast of characters. Add in a uptight and strict (but badass) grandma, and you are looking at a decent slice of life. jumbled, the characters go from lovable to hate-able, and most plots introduced relatively unresolved... As a warning, I did not previously read the manga and this is just the random opinion of someone on the internet, but here is some reasons I thought this anime was beautifully animated garbage. -Minor Spoilers-. First, the relationship between Ohana and her mother is awful, and while it is explored, Ohana basically sweeps it under the rug by the end of the show. We're talking about some serious trauma that's never touched on, and when Ohana and her mother do have a confrontation her mother basically admits that she values work more than her daughter and Ohana accepts this answer. This plot alone could have been it's own entire anime, but instead it's just a plot device they use to bring Ohana to the inn, but then decide to sloppily resolve it in the end. I also found the relation Ohana and her grandmother initially intriguing, but they don't actually build a relationship until the end of the season. Ohana never once asks her grandmother anything about herself or her mother. It's an employer / employee relationship after episode 2 until the end the series. Still a heartfelt moment, but one that could have better been built over time. I think overall the characters relationships in this anime are all hot and cold. While each character is generally a classic anime stereotype, they all consistently hate our main character at the beginning, and then AGAIN at the end. It was as though they got amnesia and decided to hate her again. Particularly Minko, who I'm assuming is the waifu of the show, goes through such hot and cold attitudes towards the main character I want Ohana to slap her. Sure, Ohana is the annoying kind of cheerful character, but having someone openly say to your face 'go die' repeatedly deserves a slap. Or just don't be friends. On the whole, each episode wavers between trying to be a daily look into the lives of running an inn, and full out DRAMA that just gets swept under the rug. On the whole, I don't think this anime was awful, but the writing / character development was just scattered. You could easily have fit the story they dished out into 13 episodes and not missed much. Episodes 1-3 were the roughest to get through in my opinion, most scenes making go 'wtf did that just happen?' (see all of episode 3). Maybe I'm missing something and maybe it's Maybelline. 4/10

I binged this series in two afternoons, and after reading about the initial hype train, decided that I would watch the show knowing only that it was about gay ice skaters.
I personally enjoyed the show, wouldn't call it a masterpiece, but for anyone who is on the fence or was driven away by the hype I will try to make it an objective review.
Similar to Free!, Yuri on Ice is, in essence, a sports anime with queer innuendos but no actual gay relationships. This can make it difficult for new viewers to want to watch, 'oh, they're gay? like, it's just

a show about gay swimmers with butt sex?'. But just like Free!, no actual physical evidence of gay relationships exist in the show. Yes, in Yuri on Ice there is some sort of relationship between the main characters, but it is not explicitly said that the two characters are dating.
So either you go in expecting a platonic relationship with a healthy dose of ice dancing, or you go in expecting R rated steamy yaoi scenes. But Yuri on Ice has neither. Instead, you have a decently complex relationship between the two main characters, but whether this is to mimic how real relationships are or the studio was too scared to make them actually gay, who's to say.
I found the realism of the ice skating, and general animation, enjoyable to watch. The characters seemed interesting and unique, and the show to move at a fair pace.
The only complaint I had with the show is that Yuri's program was featured almost constantly, and watching the whole show in a sitting made this very repetitive. If the show is supposed to span a season and the program doesn't change, at least allow that time to offer filler with other characters or something interesting. Seeing Yuri perfect, or almost nearly perfect, Eros over and over and over (and over) was really boring.
The main thing I enjoyed about the show was the soundtrack. It has been nearly a week since I watched the show but I still find myself singing the songs in my head. The studio did a great job coming up with a stellar set, and I will definitely be buying the soundtrack.
Overall, if you don't like shonen ai or don't like ice skating then you might not enjoy this. But if you love a good soundtrack with a decent, original story, then ignore all the ships and 'OMG VIKTOR MY WAIFU' and just go watch the show. Go make history!

I will start by saying that I don't like moe anime, but tend to get sucked into all female shows with ridiculously specific genres that have moe elements like K-on, Saki, Strike Witches, Kan-Colle, etc etc. But when my friend recommended this to me, I laughed. I wasn't going to watch a show about moe high school girls driving tanks! And then I proceeded to watch the anime, and then watched it again three more times.
Girls und Panzer has more fanservice for the tanks than the for girls, which in turn makes it more interesting and enjoyable for those of

us who don't get turned on by animated high schoolers. It has an interesting blend of 3D and 2D animation that was utilized quite effectively, and the characters on screen make you laugh.
The music is very patriotic, but overall fits into the military sport theme. The animators did a great job using the tanks to create interesting camera angles that pan with the turret or go up and down to mimic the tank rolling over uneven surfaces.
Again since I tend to watch a lot of shows that have big casts (like Kan-Colle) I think Girls und Panzer does an excellent job of introducing all the characters, and even make you care about them. Sure, they may be stereotypical and can be found in any comedy anime, but I enjoyed the gradual introduction to the different teams. Compare this to Kan-Colle, which is aimed directly at fans of the game and therefore doesn't provide much introduction to the different classes for viewers, and High School Fleet which after just watching this afternoon I'm struggling to remember the main characters name.
Overall, if you have watched K-On or Saki or Strike Witches and had a good time, you might like a slightly more niche anime like Girls und Panzer. No, it's not realistic, and yes it has cute high school girls driving tanks all mysteriously wearing skirts that never get blown in the breeze and expose panties, but in the end it was a good laugh.

Overall I would have to say this anime is pretty standard in plot and characters, but is done well enough that it makes you enjoy it through to the end.
As per usual I try to go into the anime without any prior knowledge of existing manga, novels, or other material, and found myself enjoying the first few episodes. The use of CG is fairly noticeable, but I didn't think detracted from the story, and even though the main group of characters are too OP to be real people I found myself rooting for the main group the entire time.

the wiki I can see that they did have this series plotted as two long OVAs, which I will watch next because the main vibe I get from this story is that this would have made a much better series of movies like Berserk than an anime.
There is one thing that I found utterly unacceptable, and can't for the life of my figure out how the animators thought it would be cool to add in. So minor ----SPOILERS---- but seriously how the fuck does a horse JUMP on top of an elephant, like WTF how does that even happen. If you look at the height of an elephant standing next to the other characters how on godly hell does a horse jump up that high. I'm sure the animators thought it was cool, and then they got the horse up there and it doesn't even DO ANYTHING, it just jumps right off...... like WTF man, why make your horse do that when you could have ridden next to the elephant, climbed up it's side, and then fought on top of the elephant.... Was that really necessary to make your horse jump up on it's head???!! ----
End of minor rant.---- I'm sorry. Anyway, if you have spare time and like the fantasy-shonen themes in this anime watch it, but if you can't deal with the minor weird details that make it unrealistic (ahem the elephant) then I'd suggest stay away.

I watched this very early on when I was first getting into anime, but I would still recommend it to newcomers/anime fans who want something a little different.
I've watched it in both Japanese and English, both of which the voice acting is good, and am always willing to re-watch it with others.
In terms of story it's very unique, it's a good story but with fairly slow pacing which gives the feel of watching a movie rather than a series of episodes. The world building for the anime is equally interesting, and even in the final episodes you don't learn much

about the world these characters live in (but you can infer).
The art style is fairly simple, but I think it fits with the quiet yet slightly unsettling feeling the anime can get at times. I thought the ending was fantastic, and love the animators choice of not falling into common anime pitfalls that make a show stereotypical.
I don't have any major criticisms for the show, but I realize that for some it may not be their cup of tea. This is definitely an original anime where if the story doesn't interest you, and the art bores you, it may be hard to watch. There are some darker moments, and trigger warnings, but for anyone willing to try an anime slightly off the beaten path, this is a great anime!

I went into this anime having heard others bemoan it for being a terrible piece of junk anime but wanted to watch it before I began Steins Gate. As per usual I do not watch the opening until the last episode, as I believe it often contains spoilers about un-met characters so I went into the anime fairly blind.
I found myself enjoying the first few episodes immensely, watching with anticipation as the main character struggled with the collision of reality and delusions. I was even tempted to Google the ending to confirm my own suspicions that Rimi was a delusion and it

was the main character killing the people (I was clearly wrong). And then things started to fall apart.
I was skeptical of the detectives being included as a parallel story line, and from that point on things that would have worked perfectly fine as the main characters delusions, actually turned out to be due to...science...?
The anime started making less sense, and the main character became more annoying. What started out as a slightly creepy psychological horror/thriller anime turned into a full-blown shonen gotta-catch-them-all harem chuunibyou delusion anime with the last episode being so unmemorable I don't remember it at all despite watching it less than a month ago. I understand the plot is derived or follows closely with the visual novel, and I wonder whether some intern at the animating studio read the script and went 'hey guys I think this makes no sense, should we revisit this?' but was told to fuck off and go get coffee for everyone and the anime was never made intelligible.
The other main characters have very limited introductions and backstories, and you care very little about them. The main character's 'save me save me' attitude gets old very very fast, and the only interesting theme centers around trying to figure out who the hell is the killer (which gets ruined too in a very anti-climactic way).
In conclusion, while I think it began as a strong anime, it fell apart as it tried to add too much to the anime, and really becomes difficult to like or care about the remainder of the story. The only memorable part about the entire anime is 'who's eyes are those?'

I went into this not knowing anything about the genre or plot, and was pleasantly surprised by the anime in general. I feel on a whole this anime has several strong points for those who like very specific slice of life type shows, with a little fantasy thrown in, but there were a few concerning points.
Mainly my issue with this anime is the pacing, for an anime that is only thirteen episodes some episodes felt so slow and long I almost began doing other things waiting for things to pick up. It's a fairly standard plot, fairly normal anime guy gets

put in with a bunch of weirdos and solves their problem, said normal guy also has some dark secret (aka his past), and finally fairly normal guy begrudgingly states that his life is more interesting and fulfilling with this crazy rag tag group.
For some reason however, some of the episodes felt so long and drawn out, and you never get a really good explanation as to why the main character was chosen for the job. He also has a pretty complicated (for a A type main character) backstory that never gets delved into (---spoilers--- fear of heights, something with his mom?). It feels as though the animators had a pretty funny concept, and instead of making every episode crazy and hilarious, there were these minor attempts to make it more 'deep' then it needed to be. I thought on a whole it was funny, and the last episode was very suspenseful, but in the end I wish there would have been more filler episodes about the characters rather than non-plot episodes with just the main character. I'm still on the fence about how it should be changed, but as it stands I don't see it getting a second season or drawing a huge range of fans.

Like most anime, I try to go in without knowing the genre or plot thus allowing for the most original and fresh experience as possible.
On the whole, I felt this anime was okay, and didn't have as many annoyingly fan service moe moments as I expected, but could have ended a lot stronger. I don't know anything about the manga, other then it differs slightly, but I wished the anime hadn't been as vanilla on the whole as it was. Compare this to similar shows like Higurashi and Yuki Yuna, I felt that this anime got the moe girls combined with

the 'wtf' moments down, but failed to maintain it's strength over the entire show. It kept swapping between very mundane slice of life moments, to small glimpses of the psychological horror genre.
I really enjoyed watching the story evolve, from the changes from the first episode opening to the seconds, and the tiny details you notice (like the roof in episode one) when you re-watch it.
On the whole, it was okay but there was a sense of a slight letdown that it wasn't as crazy as it could have been. I wish that the following scenario had happened, but it might have been in the manga and could be included in a season 2?

I really wanted the big reveal to be that the main character killed all her zombie classmates and that's what caused her to withdraw and hallucinate because she didn't want to remember. I think it would have made the show much more intense, and I felt them leaving was a cop-out ending because it didn't actually resolve anything in the overall plot.
