Definitely need a season 3!
So glad that I'm not a huge manga reader, because the manga readers WHINE WAY TOO MUCH and have to RUIN every adapted anime for the ANIME ONLY WATCHERS!

Good thing I forgot what I've read so I could enjoy this arc to the fullest.

I kinda wanna know what happened to the other students, especially Ibusaki aka the smoke expert, he looked like he was in worse situation than anyone else

They did what they could given that their might be some budget so far within JC staff as to why they weren't able to replicate the first season 24-episode margin.

It was rushed, yes, but it covered the entire Autumn Election arc only missing a few scenes from the manga itself. In the Stagiaire Arc however, the reason why some characters were given fillers (Hayama, Nakiri Alice) was to give flavor as to the manga didn't reveal where they were sent. Some were limited to just peeks as to covering an entire arc within 3 - 24-minute episodes is a monumental task to do, thereby limiting the Stagiaire Arc to focus more on Soma's own cooking style evolution.

I have to give this season 2 a 9/10. Superb nonetheless. Once again, anime moms are best moms (Kojiro's soft side for mom) and Inui Hinako stealing the spotlight.

P.S. I hope they would animate L'Etoile to see more of Hinako X Shinomiya moments.

Soma has to come up with a french dish completely on his own. He has perfectly copied a few dishes before, but here he has to come up with a brand new recipe. And as expected, he makes one which combines french and japanese cooking. It ends up being not good enough, but Shinomiya teaches Soma a thing or two about how to further improve the dish. And in the end, the dish finds its way to the menu. The purpose of the stagiare has been told to be a test to see which students get something out of the pros. The students have to learn something from the pros and then leave a mark of their own in a professional setup. Soma is now using different cooking styles and combining them into his own cooking. He's learning stuff from everyone and is incorporating them into his own dishes.
Lol Takumi in a maid café was awesome.

This season was quite good. It was a bit fast paced, but I didn't really mind it much. The autumn elections were quite intense and this stagiare was cool too. We got some further development for Soma, some Hisako time, some back story on the relationship between Ryo and Alice, and some good cooking battles. Pretty solid season just like its prequel.

They're all becoming so badass gaaah. Souma is truly inspirational. And I'm proud of everyone esp. Megumi!!! I love her...

Great arc.

9/10 for this season. Started a bit weak, was fast-paced but they still managed to make something great out of it.

Oh boy the final episode. Yukihira's food looked good, two people lost their clothes, got a brief history lesson on French cuisine in Japan, and he kind of lost, but won in the process. Also got a view of what everybody else was up to, which was very nice. And with that the Stagiaire is Complete, and the season is over.

That was excellent, and it delivered in everything I hoped it would for the most part. It was a bit rushed at times, but very good. Now, personally, I think the first season was better. There should have been more episodes for this season to avoid the rush, but aside from that, this was fantastic. 9/10

Well, it was a decent final-end ep. It was again very informative and funny on the same time! Hinako is really a troublesome but a warmhearted person, I like her^_^!

Hmm... A bit a shame that we couldn't more screen times except Souma's and Erina's Stagiere - Because I had really e.g. a bit more from Megumi's maid version seen - But so is happened.

The 3 months are like the express train gone, for me was like a moment. I do think that the staff and cast now their deserved break take could - especially Risa-chan - That they then again in about 1 year the continuation of the series make can.

Ahh..Such a heartwarming ending. Pretty predictable but still good enough to keep u greedy about the third season.
Hope they announce a new year soon, it's pretty difficult to control the urge to just read the manga.
Anyways, I heard the next few arcs increase Erina's role. Is it true? If yes, I want a new season even more badly.

I have one thing to say:

Can J.C. Staff make Shokugeki no Souma their flagship already? Apparently s2 ends at chapter 116 out of 184. No idea how fast they come out since I don't follow it(will after I wait a while with no rumors of a 3rd season coming though), but I seems there's plenty of room for another 2 cour season, and maybe another 1 cour with more chapters coming out 'till then. Heck, even then I could still see it going since there's it could as well follow Souma & the other characters' story as they grow up and face various hardships in the food industry.

The problem is not that is poorly adapted, but the autumn election arc in the Manga is long and don't have much stakes + less comedy/ecchi. It's quite faithful to the Manga. Plot Armor is always strong in shonen storylines.

Great job, Yukihira! With a little help from Shinomiya, your dish was able to make his menu after all! =D

Anyway, the second season of Food Wars has come to an end a once again, it was fun, epic and pretty tense along the way too. I'm glad that all of the members of the Polaris Dorm made it through the Stagiarie challenge safely, although I was surprised when, for the first time ever I believe, they showed Ibusaki's eye. O_O

However, this season had more faults than season one and it's pretty apparent that the pacing has gotten some stick from other users here and I do understand that. I would've preferred 24 or so episodes again, but if it was to adapt of Autumn election and Stagiarie again, then I would think certain parts of both arcs would drag on and people would inevitably complain about the slow pace. Looking at the manga discussions during the Autumn Elections Arc, users were a little frustrated about the slow pacing, due to the weekly chapters of about 20 pages.

I haven't seen what the next arc is after this, but if the ending of the next arc, assuming that this next arc is done that is, is good enough to finish the show's 24-26 episode run, then that would potentially give the studio an extra episode or two for both the Autumn Election and Stagiarie arc so that they could address the pacing better.

And aside from a few art/animation issues, it's overall quality was very good and MUCH more consistent then J.C Staff's adaption of Taboo Tattoo.

Overall, season two of Food Wars doesn't hit the highs of season one, but for me, it still deserves a 9/10. =)

Please let there be a season three! =3

Not sure I recognize where that reference is from where Soma is pierced by countless fancy cutlery and glows like an action shounen protagonist getting a power-up. Any ideas?

Was hoping there would be a season 3 announcement at end of episode, but even if there wasn't, there's still hope if it does well in sales, enough to convince the fat cats that this series is where the money is at to do more.

Overall I liked it....not as much as first season due to them rushing through it, as it should easily have been double the number of episodes, but at least they didn't leave it off as a cliffhanger and ended it at a good point enough to be satisfied with. But I'm not the type to eat until I'm satisfied, I eat until I'm full. So for that, I give this season just one point shy of a perfect 10, being so high only because it's freaking Shokugeki no Soma foodporn greatness, otherwise it'd be an 7 or 8.

Would have been nice to see everyone at the dorm.

That Quail and Rice bowl looked very good. Clever how he used the cabbage for the filling. So in the end, Shinomiya approves Souma's dish, just not for a top tier restaurant.

Hisako/Erina reunion, about time those two reunited. Their reaction upon seeing the Shokugeki news lol

Hopefully season 3 comes out soon but I think we'll probably have to wait till next Spring or Summer to let the manga probably finish. Don't know how much content is left.

All good things must come to an end it seems

This was ab amazing episode as always

Figures that the last guests for Shinimiya's opening will be his fellow alumni from Totsuki. But its nice to see them all again especially Hinako again. Out of the alumni she's perhaps my favorite character due in large part to her personality and her seiyuu Mamiko Noto.

And surprisingly we get to see Shinomiya sempai's mother
she looks more normal than i expect
And Shinomiya sempai is so different when he talks with her lol
its like he's a different person.

The reason why Shinomiya decided to specialize in french cuisine
was more normal than i thought it would be lol

The interactions between the alumni are just as funny as ever

Wow with the recipe competition i guess everyone wants to take part and submit their dishes for it Yukihira has some serious competition here

The expressions of the alumni when Yukihira told them what his dish was
though was hillarious especially Hinako's

Im glad that Yukihira's dish was well received
and that he managed to pass the stag in the end
Lol the part where Soma called Shinomiya Master and how he dealt with lucie and Hinako was just hillarious

Lol Kurokiba is more than scary enough to tame gang members easily

To think that Takumi will be paired with Urara though
still that scene where he blessed the omelette rice was funny
And urara looked nice in the maid outfit

Alice of course is great at directing staff

Megumi's as nice and diligent as ever and wow where did Nikumi end up

And its nice to see Soma's dish end up on the menu of Shinomiya's after all

A fantastic end to the series with a shokugeki to wrap things up as well
hope there will be a season 3. The ending scenes where they all come back to the academy was funny.

Its nice to see Hisako return to Erina

Of course whether or not there will be a season 3 will depend largely on the animators and of course on Risa Taneda that portrays Erina as she is currently on hiatus due to illness.

Ahh, always sad to see it go. Can never have enough Shokugeki! Even though this season was jam packed with action, I was worried it was going to stagnate. The prequel was mainly about Yukihira winning, but this time it showed that there's a great deal to learn from falling short as well. That's really exemplified by the way Yukihira approaches each hurdle. Just keep throwing yourself at your passions with everything you've got. Instead of accepting your limits, take responsibility for and surpass them. Yukihira puts in the effort, has the humility to admit where he's wrong, and works twice as hard when he hears "no." All the while being so chill and mischievous.
