Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko

Both of the main characters find themselves dealing with major otaku of some time despite the fact that they want to live a normal high school life. Their lives become filled with crazy antics. 

Both of these stories are about people who have problems making what can be concidered a true friendships with each other because of some sort of social stigma that they themselves place, or someone else does. The art style is also very simular. 

Both are offbeat comedies about an ordinary guy, his sort-of-romantic-but-not-really relationship with a girl who claims to be an alien, and their unconventional friends and peers. Arakawa's gag series nature renders it a lot sillier than Denpa Onna, but it's not without its own ridiculous elements. And of course both are directed by Shinbo, so you can't leave out his signature style. 

Similar mood and setting. And, well, instead of Youkai, we have "Denpa". Being made by Shaft, both drawings are very similar to each other. Protagonist has harem. Somehow the whole story just seems to be an alternative version or inspiration to bakemonogatari. "both Denpa Onna and Bakemonogatari are intelligent harems for adults with good taste." stated by McRib 

The subject of aliens come up in both anime and both Anime have styles that are experimental in their own ways, not to mention both Anime use bright colors. Both are also about coming out of your shell. 

Supernatural flavored lovey-dovey-bishoujo-fanfare anime. Sci-fi element is weak and less worthy of mentioning than your average Star Trek. The fun part of Nyaruko-san is obviously not wet tentacles trying to ass-rape random teenage boy, but hot chicks that spout sexy nonsense and wear easy-to-took-off uniform. They both are anime with hot chick, slight of life, comedy and mild sex sell. But with some extraterrestrial topping. Possibly mark the era that the legendary romance harem like Love Hina is a little bit too boring in normal world setting, so Japan added robots and aliens to them. Now you understand where all those animes came from. What else is worth mentioning? Not really. The pace are different, the humor are not at all similar, the art direction is all cool but not worth pointing out, the voice acting is not the same style for most part of the show. End of discussion. Now choose your porn, if you have high tolerence to everything, both are funny. If you hate overly fast paced comedy, go with Denpa Onna. If you fall asleep when watching Titanic and fall asleep again decade later when watching Titanic3D, go for Nyaruko-san. No one can sleep with that thing on. read more 

Even if Denpa Onna lacks the supernatural element that Haruhi no Yuutsu had, it's still about a normal guy surrounded by a cast of weirdos. 

In both series, there is a main male protagonist who has to take care of a strange girl. From there on and out, the two forms a strange relationship with one another as he tries to take care of her and teach the girl about things around the world. (i.e. common sense) Both series has a lot of drama and comedy that is presented as being lighthearted. Both series also has an entertaining start/pilot episode that kicks off the plot. Often or not in both series, the dialogues (especially between the two main protagonists) are very humorous to listen to. 

Both titles are coming of age stories featuring adolescent male protagonists who gradually change through time. Also feature eccentric female characters and lead female characters who refer to themselves as aliens. In contrast, FLCL is more whacky in nature and the story is faster paced.  

At the very least, the first arc is almost identically constructed. But I expect more similarities. 

Adachi to Shimamura is very much a refinement of a lot of the concepts from Denpa Onna with a better execution and a stronger focus in its subject manner. While a lot more grounded in reality (relatively at least), it manages to retain the same quirkiness for the peripheral cast while focusing its attention on the main couple. 

Denpa Onna and Sasami-san have a similar girl who does not attend school and is seen as an outcast or a NEET, Denpa Onna and Sasami-san share a whimsical young feeling to the series. Sasami-san being a bit more Sci-fi than Denpa Onna, both series have their fair share of very unique and unforgettable characters. 

Both feature mysterious blue haired 'aliens.' Both are comedy. 

Well, Denpa Onna is more fantastic, but both are still heart-warming stories about teenagers and they lives, fears and loves. What's more, I found Ryuuko very similar to Minorin. 

Both are about strange girls who appeared in main male charaters' life. 

The main character in Denpa Onna really reminds me of Shiro from No Game No Life not only their blue long hair but also their overall appearance, behavior and even voice! While both are still different kinds of anime the characters to resemble each other quite a lot! 

Crazy girls harem for our hero. Both got industry-leading lengthy name. Not to mention that it's basically harem spiced with stuffs don't belong to romance, violence and aliens for example. The OVA one is full of girls who are, by all social definition, eastern or western, violent. All girls take the liking of the male lead, some want to get along, plenty want him dead. The Shaft-made one is sci-fi flavored love comedy. Girls are non-violent, but extra-strange nonetheless. Both fit for the you who are bored with common harem setting without blood and aliens, with Denpa Onna give you some makeshift sci-fi and Denpa Kanojo offer you gory romance. read more 

Both Anime use bright colors and have a similar fluid style for their characters. The stories focal point is around a rather innocent girl who has a wish that is unsaid. It is also about friendship and strengthening relationships which draws the viewer in. 

Both have a main character who believes in the existence of aliens, but in Denpa the main character thinks she's an alien, while in Brynhildr he just thinks they exist. Both have the alien aspect, but actually have little to do with aliens. 

Both of these storylines revolve around the subject of Aliens. In one, Level E, the aliens definatly exist and in the other, the existance of Aliens and other such things is in question. Both stories also revolve around characters with wonderful, crackish personalities. 

Just take a look at Ako and mother and Touwa and her mother, you'll get it. Besides that main protagonist girl have lot of similarities. 

Both Anime contain bright blue haired girls who don't know how to fit in and the main character helps them to learn to fit in and be as normal of a girl as possible. 

The two series employ a similar style that utilizes a soft pastel color pallet with a similar style used for the character designs. They also tackle a slice of life with a level of quirkiness and drama while also following someone who is new to the given setting. Relationships with others are also a big deal in both series. 

Both Anime involve aliens and both anime deal with friendships and growing closer to each other. Both anime are also mellow slice of life for a nice mellow watch. 

Similar protagonist and character relations, but True Tears more focused on dramatic elements. Denpa onna is more oriented for relaxation 

After a session of careful thought, you can see that what the lead male characters are doing is pretty similar. Presented like there are something supernatural going on, both shows are about myth busting in a world without the slightest existence of sci-fi elements. It's all about the idea of unconventional presentation of a very conventional, realistic setting. Denpa Onna anime, as far as it goes, has nothing defying the laws of physics. No matter how it wanted you to think or feel about, there is not one. No saying about the original light novel as it might has some surprising revelation later, but it is likely that there might not. Hyouka on the other hand is beautified with scenes that look and feel otherworldly, but they are at best the presentation of character's feeling. Again, no ghosts, aliens, psychic, time traveler and evil crime orgainzation to be found. Just a bunch of high schoolers being curious of stuff you will never ever give a quarter of fuck. read more 

Now I know what you're thinking. What similarities could a show about cute yet crazy girls and SHAFT antics and a show about distressed individuals and dark comedy possibly have? When you look past the design choices they actually have plenty of similarities. Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko begins with Matoko moving in with his aunt and cousin. Erio is detached from the world, traumatized by some prior experience. He vows to gradually ease Erio back into society. Welcome to the NHK begins with Satou, a depressed hikkikomori, and his pathetic life. Prone to drug abuse (which the anime excludes), he has hallucinations and illusions of grandeur, not unlike Erio's fascination with being an alien. Misaki acts as his guide on his way to reintroduction to society. All of the characters in both series have their own issues which are touched upon. The shows also both include plenty of parody and referential humor. The first season of Denpa (if it ever gets more) only strays into the cutesy side of the story. It has yet to get into the real meat of the novels, while NHK explores it far more. read more 

Both animes have Male Protagonists constantly having somewhat of a dialogue for their thoughts throughout the series. Both MCs try to stay true to their realistic and logic view of life. Both MCs have a world view of themselves are being losers in life instead of winners. 

NieA is a slice of life with aliens, Denpa Onna a SoL with "aliens." Both shows share a similar feeling with characters struggling with a daily reality that is counter to their dreams and ambitions.  

There's one female that everyone dislikes, Male helps her out, Although in Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko he helps her cousin, he is still attracted to her, H20 is tragic. 

Both revolve around a protagonist taking care off a odd girl Denpa Onna is slightly less dark, though. 

Yes the genres are completely different, you can expect one to be more intense/dramatic while the other is easy going. But the enjoyment for both of them are roughly the same, the characters have a similar connection with each other plus the main females are adorable.  

same gender of otoko taking care of an onanoko.,.,also same drama, comedy romance thing.,., but in ore no kanojo there is more romance and some harem.,., 

Both are slice-of-life anime that can be enjoyed for the atmosphere they create and the themes and ideas they explore. Haibane Renmei has a more depressing tone, and Denpa Onna has some Harem/Romcom elements, though. 

For starters, these two series both have absolutely amazing art! They both have a Si-Fi aspect about them, which is definitely more noticeable in Nagi no Asukara, but is still prevalent in Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko. Romance plays a big role in both series, as well. They do, however, diverge in setting because Denpa focuses on space and aliens while Nagi focuses on the sea. Both shows are fabulous and deserve a watch! 

Both have comedic excellence that revolve around a young male meeting or knowing a young female and having silly adventures.  

I can't really put my finger on it you know. Kakushigoto feels really shafty maybe because of kamiya hiroshi who reminds me of araragi and the comedic style zetsubou sensei. Combined the two of those and adding more comedy and heartwarming moments it builds up to be a really odd (yet very good) story. Denpa Onna give the same vibes I guess. Both of the anime make you feel like your searching or missing something that you don't really don't know with a comedic twist. A certain melancholy vibe both give, making you feel that you need to apriciate things more in your life. Yeah I guess that's it. read more 

I really like a mysterious kind of a girl, because they are cute and likable. You will be intrigue by their unique personality and bout themselves. If you like those kind of things. I assure you'll gonna like these two shows. pretty sweet though :D enjoy! 

In both anime, the two female main characters are mysterious. they have unique personality that can make you like their character. In TOA, is more serious and scary, while in denpa onna___ is focusing on the alien mystery and everyday life. Bonus. If you're a big fan of moe and panty shots, you're gonna love these two shows. enjoy! :D 

Both protagonists live with a strange girl and her wacky mother. 

It's the same setting @ school tho Inou-Battle is more of real powers than having the illusion. 

Has the same magical feeling that And Yet the Town Moves has and is also made by SHAFT.  

Both anime is about sci-fi with romance and comedy Both female protagonist are self proclaimed aliens Both male protagonist are taking care of a girl. 

Both series have a male protagonist who seek a more exciting lifestyle and a female character who has been isolated from society due to a traumatic upbringing/event.  

For some odd reason, the art work and story remind me of "St. Luminous Mission High School". Yes, there seems to be less supernatural when it comes to "Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko", but they have a very simular feel to their slice-of-life story telling. You also get to feel as if the characters exist. 

Both anime deal with female otaku and not the kind that is interested in anime. They also deal with the male that interacts with the females trying to get them to open up and be more normal despite being otaku. 

Both have "Denpa" or weird-odd-quirky girls as part of the main cast. 

The main female character in the anime has socialization problems that the main male character has to end up dealing with. Aliens are also involves and the female characters share similarities in the way they look.

In both anime's the main male protagonist find themselves (for them at the moment) in a wierd place, surrounded by strange people. But in no time they get used to it. Both anime's have a piece of supernatural related storys, and the comedy is mutual in them. The music is also good if you ask me.  

What's the difference between pure science and applied science? Half the population don't know before Googling it up. Aria is an actionless twist from normal sci-fi genre which usually come bundled with action. Well of course Aria is chilled slice-of-life, but if that actionless, blood-deboiling moments make you overlook its sci-finess then you are not familiar with British soap. And yes sci-fi get along well with comedy, slice-of-life, romance, and actionless drama too. Sci-fi no longer serve purpose as a genre in 2011, it's more like a setting. Denpa Onna is a sci-fi-less twist from normal sci-fi genre which usually come bundles with sci-fi elements. (Wait, what?) Lets say most sci-fi anime are applied science and this thing is pure science. Other sci-fi shows are sci-fi because aliens appear in it. This show is sci-fi because people appear in it talk about aliens. Now that's the difference. Without listening to dialogue (or in your case reading subtitles,) nothing is sci-fi about this. The show is viisually dominated by earthlings. And technically nothing extraterrestrial landed in this show just yet. read more 

Excessive mentioning of stuff that has little to do with actual show, the sci-fi element. Kashimashi is about alien turning a man into girl, and you know what ensues. However the sci-fi stuff contribute very little to the actual story, after all this was just your girls-love anime with some alien who didn't want to conquer the earth. There is no sci-fi appeal in this, it just happen to get mildly Star Trek flavored. Denpa Onna excessively suggest to audience that alien populated this show, but it focused on too much human relationship and earthly sex appeal for alien to make a prominent appearance.

These inspiring anime tell of how a nonchalant attitude can inhibit the potential young people and of the rewards that come from standing out from the crowd. The protagonists are met with a unique character whom they don't understand and initially criticize, but as the story progresses and with the help of these nonconformist characters, their perspectives begin to shift. 

Main character transfers to another school and city. Finds an eccentric girl in his new home. There is a mystery behind her and he must uncover the truth. Similar theme and character personality. Both are comedy too.  

Produced by the same studio and directed by the same director. Additionally, they both contain comedy, scenery, and an usual feeling to viewers. Oh not only that but the main male protagonists are similar and contains a lot of humor courtesy of Shaft. Unique series for viewers interested into the works of Shaft. 

Both of these animes sets the scene with a random, almost alien girl being introduced to the protagonist. The girl is a complete airhead, and causes problems for the guy. There is a mother-figure who attempts to control the female lead, but never succeeds. This is a combination of comedy and what I guess you could call "alternate romance". 

Both have the same basic premise: A teenage male transfer student comes to a new town and meets a beautiful, strange, and nonetheless intriguing heroine. Denpa is more comedy and harem with some sci-fi, while Another plays with the horror genre. Both are awesome. 

Both series have a side character who usually goes around wearing a spacesuit, often to comedic effect unintentional on their part. Come on, you can't say you see this often. 

They both have a similar feeling and especially the seinen element. 

Similarities: Both involves a mucahcho who happens to be the only normal hombre in a group of poco loco chiquitas. Both involves a chiquita who is the most weirder of all. Both have sci-fi genres. And in both cases, the muchacho is drag into the chiquita's weird world. Dissimilarities: In DOSO the muchcho almost never encountered any esper or ET beings, while the same cannot be said with the muchacho from SHY. In SHY the muchacho was able to develop a relationship with the chiquita, while in DOSO the muchacho is sometimes being sexually harass by his MILF aunt. When it come to the extra genre, DOSO is more of drama than sci-fi, while in SHY it's genre has romance as an extra genre, but it is more of mystery than sci-fi.  read more 

Though Denpa Onna takes on a more serious & slightly different approach even with it's similar aspects, also containing comedic and romantic scenes whereas Sora no Method is mainly Slice of Life based. They both contain many main similar themes and are both fun loving and often cheerful. Both contain; - Blue-haired female protagonist's who claim to be aliens - Struggle with making friendship's - A character with a forgotten past - Main character's who've recently moved to back to a town that they've lived in the past a long time ago - Mystery involving uncovering the past or truth & figuring out how to change for a better future
