Uramichi Oniisan has the potential to give unique insight into the melancholy of adulthood, yet fails to do so due to a repetitive plot and static characters.

The interactions between Uramichi and his coworkers were initially interesting thanks to the slapstick humor and the relatability of their situations. It really is quite tiring to repeat the same routine over and over, going to the same job that you hate just wake up and go back the next day. Sometimes the bunny and bear actors had moments that amused me and there were wholesome moments with the children, but that alone was otherwise not enough to balance the overwhelming sense of dread I while reading this manga; the fear of being bound to a boring life.

While I recognize that the author is intentionally writing with a pessimistic tone, my major problem with the story is that there is little variation in how each chapter progress: It starts off with everyone happy and smiling, then there are a few dark moments here and there, and then it ends without being particularly entertaining or insightful. However, this makes me question if this "fault" was made intentionally. Through the static characters and repetitive plot, is the author illustrating that life itself is similarily monotonous? Whether or not this is the case, that doesn't change how, for me, Uramichi Oniisan felt overly melancholic without hope for finding happiness.

Overall, while Uramichi Oniisan was entertaining at times, the narrative didn't leave a lasting impression due to excessive nihilism and repetition. While I would recommend reading it or watching the anime when it comes out later this year, it just didn't resonate well with me personally.

As a side note, this definitely has a lot of meme potential with its "r/animeirl" vibes.

This is my first review here and i am happy it is for this manga. I often like to read comedy manga to lighten my mood but this manga is more 'unique'.

Story (8): The story is well paced with short chapters each with different scenerios. I personally enjoy a bit of dark humour so I found this story quite entertaining. However, I sometimes feel that the jokes are quite repetitive at times and this manga might not be for everyone. If you maybe want something comedic which is not centered on high schoolers and a bit down to earth then i reccomend to give this manga a try.

Art (7): The art is not the greatest out there but it also contributes to the humour. The characters and background are quite simple with most of the details shown through costumes or props in a chapter.

Character (9): I believe that the characters are the main reason I enjoy this manga. Each of the characters face their own problems and have to often put on a facade during work. This is mainly shown through the protaganist Uramichi but also evident in the others. Since they work in a educational children's TV show, they are expected to always be cheerful regardless to how they actually feel. Therefore, they have to hide their true selves so they won't get fired. This may sound depressing but since the characters have each other's company, they face life together in the most funniest way possible without being too underwhelming.

Enjoyment (9): Like i said before I find this manga very enjoyable and the chapters generally quick to read. I often read a few chapters when I get bored and it never fails to make me laugh out loud. Again the humour is subjective and a bit repetitive so it might not be for everybody. However, I personally enjoy it for what it is and would like to read more the author has to offer.

Overall (8.5): In conclusion, I agree that the humour is subjective and it is not a masterpiece but i definitley think it is worth checking out if u are looking for something unique with great characters and a spoonful of dark humour.
