When someone asks me what anime got me into the manga/anime world, my answer is simple, Inuyasha. Here's a review on the show as a whole.

Story: Inuyasha's story is a little cliched, but still plays well and is still enjoyable. One problem with the story is that it seems to drag on, so if you're impatient with anime stories, then you might have an issue with it. The drag on issue aside, the story is simple and very easy to follow.

Characters: The characters from Inuyasha are truly spectacular. Each character goes through many hardships and trials throughout the story, not just the main character. Each character (Kagome excluded) also has quite dark and saddening past. Because of each of their pasts, you come to an understanding with the characters and the decisions they make throughout the story.

Art: For it's time, Inuyasha has one of the greatest animation designs. Of course it pales in comparison to today's animation, but it is still spectacularly done.

Sound: The soundtrack for Inuyasha is by far one of my favorite soundtracks. They do a spectacular job at having the perfect OST for the perfect moment. In other words, they don't have a somewhat depressing song during a happy moment.

Enjoyment: All and all, Inuyasha is a great anime to watch. If you're a patient person and you don't mind waiting awhile, then this anime is perfect for you. If you are an impatient person, then you might be a little upset at the dragging on of the story, but nothing that should stop you from finishing the series.
