Spoiler
"5 cm centimeters per second", the speed at which a cherry blossom falls and the title of the gem that Makoto Shinkai brought us. If i had to sumarize this movie in one word, it would have to be: "Beautiful". Because that's exactly what it is!
"5 cm per Second" tells the story of 3 main characters: Takaki and Akari, who are in love, and Kanae, a girl who likes Takaki and shines in the second episode. It would seem that this is a romance story with the love triangle settled but the writers decided to take the story on a more realistic approach having [SPOILER ALERT] takaki and akari drift apart and kanae not being even eble to reach takaki. And the story defines such a mood that it forces you to think about your childhood and the inevetable cruel thing we call growing up (kidding).
Although the story is very good, the real star of this movie is the art/animation. This movie has the best animation I have seen in my entire life, especially the scenery. Have that with a great soundtrack and you have recipe for success right there.
But, as all the shows, this movie also has its flaws. And the most noticeable i would have to say are the characters. I understand they were trying to make a realistic approach with Takaki and Akari, but one of the most remarkable scenes in the movie is also one of the most forced. I'm talking of course of the trip in the first episode, it took way too long and the mood just didn't feel right.
Overall I HIGHLY recommend this movie to anyone, especially if you don't like anime because this is a GREAT way to start!
