Personally I've never read the manga of Mirai Nikki, like many others, an such I review it as the main anime, not comparing it. The story of a boy, who, by God, receives a Future Diary. That alone makes quite a chance for a good story, yes, but it is not even close to what this is about. Yes, those diaries create all the situations, but, in my opinion what this really is about is... Yuno.
Past her having a diary too (and it being only about the main character, Yukiteru), she would do about anything for him. And that's where the fun begins.
From killing dozens of people here and there, having a twisted love and basically living because of him.
Why see it? Yuno. She is the main character, the way the story turns because of her, knowing how she will react but at the same time don't knowing what's going to happen really makes a good story. The way her mind process works, at knowing the weaknesses of the other diaries, and owners, really works up for a good anime.
So if you want to she a pink haired girl chopping some people off (that's what it is about most of the times), saving a boy who cries every once in a while and doing it nearly without breaking a sweat, I'd say this is for you.
