I actually did like Bokurano, particularly for it's characters and the way they reacted to what was happening to them. The show does a highly effective job of tearing out your heart with unavoidable tragedy. That said, I found the whole premise to be rather contrived, which kept me from enjoying it as much as I might have otherwise. There was never any explanation given for the events of the show. The individual character stories are done well enough, and the character's reactions are believable. But without enough justification for the emotional torment they all suffer the series lost a large part of it's potential emotional impact.
