Tytania (Anime) add (All reviews)
Apr 27, 2013
Spoiler
Be warned I read some of the other reviews and some of what I have to say is in response to those reviews.

One of the best things about Tytania is it's a great anime to re-watch. There are a lot of animes that you watch the first time and you think were fantastic then you re-watch them and you don't even get half of the enjoyment out of them, Tytania isn't one of them. I've re-watched the whole anime start to finish over 10 times since it first aired and I'm currently re-watching it again. For the re-watchability (if that's even a real word) both the enjoyment and overall get a boost in score from me.

I'm going to take part of a previous review and explain a few things. I know it says not to but I feel that it's important to the realism of the story. There is also a spoiler alert and an ending to it if you wish to skip it. These are my thoughts so I thought I should have them in the review.

"The first problem with Tytania is its cast of mannequins. Not only is the character development flimsy and lacking, the manner of the characters often felt cheap and one-dimensional. Nobody was terribly interesting nor seemed to have any deep humanity about them. Ironically, the most well-developed characters seemed to hold either unlikeable or unimportant roles.

There's also the trouble of realism. A lot of the things that happened in Tytania didn't make a whole lot of sense... such as a person dying from spending a couple minutes underwater (When there was no need to be there in the first place), or an unarmed man beating up hordes of men who had large guns (But didn't seem to think it appropriate to try using them)."

Tytania is more or less meant to be the prologue of the story that was a space opera. If you take into account that it was meant to be a prologue then the fact that the characters aren't fully formed by the end makes sense. Since the characters that died or were unlikeable or had unimportant roles were developed the same way. Those that were unlikeable may have changed later and those who seemed not to have important roles might have played a major part later on.

It also mentioned that some things don't make sense and I would like to explain a few things

--------------------------------------Spoiler Alert--------------------------------------

The person who dies after spending a couple of minutes underwater isn't realism apparently however I know I cannot hold my breath for minutes while fighting someone in water filled with carnivorous fish...or whatever they're meant to me...some sore of freaky eel like thing... and the reason she was in the water was to save the main character from being captured.

The reason the unarmed man was beating up people with guns and not being shot at was because he was underground in caves filled with carbon dioxide and they didn't want to kill Zarlish only capture him. Considering most of his men had already passed out from the lack of oxygen and he was barely on his feet I believe it was a realistic tactic. When they realized they couldn't capture him alive only then did they kill him

--------------------------------------Spoiler Alert Over--------------------------------------

This story was meant to continue and unfortunately has not and appears not to have plans to continue as an anime, however given that this was just the prologue to the story I believe it was amazing. It also gave me a craving to play a videogame where you can upgrade your ship, weapons, armor, type, inside...the reason was the bar in the main characters ship. I know that's weird but this anime makes you think and wonder about so many different things that it's impossible not to think about it. Frankly it's not the best anime I've seen and it's not even complete, but it's a great anime that I intend to watch over and over.
