Story- The story started and worked up to a good plot line but fell flat near the end. The idea of mutants living in the world, dangerous, yet capable of normal human emotions and relationships was a nice pretext, yet (without spoiling the end) nothing major was accomplished despite the high number of kills it took to get there.
Art- When this show came out its art was good I would think, even now its art holds up well enough, though, the violent scenes looked bad, the blood like light paint and the characters kinda plastic, given new animation technology I'm sure it could have had more of an impact during these scenes but for me it was pretty dull.
Characters- The worst part about the show was the characters, they didn't seem to grow at all and the main character surprised me with his final decisions, and not in a good way. The only two characters who had real character development either made me conflicted on whether to hate or praise her, or in the other characters situation, he was really pointless until the end and then even that didn't matter to the bigger story.
Sound- typical sound quality I guess, not great, not bad, the English girls voices were a little to high made it uncomfortable.
In the end it all boiled down to a decent show to watch once and probably forget not long after. It seemed like it could have been a lot better if it had been submitted for a review before it aired so that they could have fine tuned these part. I'm not sure how good the manga was so its hard to say if this lived up to it or not, but either way this had a lot more potential than it showed, certainly didn't deserve its fame in the early 2000s.
