About the STORY
The story is honestly somewhat like Eden of the East. It is similar in the sense that it is also a survival game with randomly chosen players who are promised a reward when they become the winner. They are also using cell phones to monitor each other. The thing about survival stories is that the storyline is not the conventional or your everyday kind of story. It is twisted and complicated yet so interesting at the same time. You’ll really have to work your brain with this type of story. The drama is also in the heavy-side as the storyline is really tragic. The original part of it is also the most interesting part of the story which is the unique and so interesting plot. There are countless twists in the story which is really making every revelations anticipating.
About the CHARACTERS
Another great thing with survival games are the very interesting characters that comes with it. Because it’s a gathering of complete strangers, each of them has interesting and unique back-story. Each has their own interesting circumstances which led them to use and take the survival game seriously. And if there’s one similarity they have, majority of them are insanely twisted which no doubt making their characters more interesting and exciting. You would anticipate the next twisted and insane things they will do. The protagonist is definitely not your everyday self-righteous, heroic, reliable, and cool type of protagonist. In fact, there is absolutely nothing particularly memorable or special about him. You’ll even get irritated by him at times. And the funny thing is, almost other characters are way more interesting than him who’s supposedly the main character. At least all of them are doing things which they believe is righteous and put their convictions into it unlike Yukiteru who just go with the flow and let others pushes him around.
About GASAI YUNO
The most interesting of all is the character of Gasai Yuno. She’s twisted, crazy, smart, scary, and mysterious. She has almost everything a character needs to make them interesting and memorable. Her very unique form of love is what makes her interesting as because it is literally the catalyst to her every action. It’s obviously her strength and makes her really amazing. Oftentimes, her insanity can become comical because she can just say morbid things very casually and acts like its nothing. And even with her craziness, she’s usually right with her suspicions of others unlike the very dumb Yukiteru which keeps him safe. She’s a bundle of mysteriousness as you really can’t tell what she’s up to. She’s the main source of excitement in the series with all her insanities. Her character proves that women are extremely dangerous when they are crazy “in love”.
About the ANIMATION
The animation has a strong feeling of “now”. It is quite obvious that it is a latest series. The details to the insane and creepy expressions of the characters are nicely done.
About the ENJOYMENT
It’s definitely not the conventional anime. It will give refreshment to your usual and very cliché anime that sometimes makes you so fed up already. Another reason to go back to the anime world. The storyline and plot that the series has is one of the best and one of the most original I’ve ever encountered. And with this series, I found my new favorite character; Yuno. For whatever its worth with all her craziness and insanities, she’s one hell of a very interesting and badass character. If majority of the characters will give you mix emotions, she’s the primary character that will give you so many emotions. I just love her so many different crazy and creepy expressions. She may be badass but I really pity her character. And as much as I like Yuno’s character. I hate Yukiteru’s character so much. One of the most irritating characters and protagonists I’ve ever seen. I’ve never seen a character that gets manipulated and fooled so many times in a series and a protagonist at that. And what I love the most with the series is what it’s trying to convey. This series shows the extent of what human beings can become and can do to make their wishes come true. And no matter how much they justify their actions or put silver linings to their reasoning, at the end of the day each of them are still doings things for their own wish at the expense of the lives of others.
