I’m a very huge fan of the Korean Drama version and while watching the first episode I felt so surreal. It’s quite different from your typical anime perhaps because it was originally a drama and Korean for that matter.

I was so amazed that they managed to retain the real faces of the Korean actors from the drama. Joonsang and Yujin were almost as beautiful as the real-life Bae Yoong-Joon and Choi Ji-woo. It was so thrilling that both lead actors agreed to dub for the anime version. Even after so many years you can still feel the chemistry of Yoong-Joon and Ji-woo.

The story, granting, was so great. It was such a tragic yet so sweet love story. Maybe it was somewhat different from your everyday anime because it was a drama originally but still, it was such a refreshing feeling. Even though they put small side stories you can still feel how they kept it as original as possible. I really loved how they somewhat modified it.

What I really loved, most importantly, about Winter Sonata was the music. I believed the music has a huge contribution on why Winter Sonata was such a big hit among the Endless Love franchise. In fact, it was such a huge hit among all the dramas during those times even until now. Even after almost a decade I still listens every now and then with all the soundtracks of Winter Sonata.

The ending was such a touching closure for all those people like me who loved the drama. Who would’ve have thought back in 2003 that after so many years I would be able to watch a different version yet such beautiful ending from the original. I enjoyed it a lot.
