End of Evangelion does what the series never displayed; human bloodshed. Everything crashing down around NERV, they have met there match in the form of the last Angel, can they stop Instrumentality? Does Gendo fulfil is variant, to be reunited with Yui Ikari? All these questions are answered within the film!
...unluckily, that is about it on the closure front. EoE starts of intense, NERV is failing where they haven't before, dirty tricks play a part, struggles and emotions are felt by all the characters as they try to fend off this last attack; from all fronts!
Near the climax of the film, Anno engages full on mindfuck; be prepared for it! It lasts quite a while, and leaves you psychologically a mess for awhile, everything ends unlike you thought it would, and just offers so many new questions, without really resolving anymore beyond the ones I mentioned earlier. Though some storyline plots aren't answered, I still ultimately felt closure with the series after watching this film; thats because it does this in a philosophical way, which makes me think. And smile.
