I'm not much of a reviewer. I just feel a need to recommend this further by describing it in relation to the categories given.

The story. It is simple, as in the synopsis. There is no over complication or simplification. It is realistic, and clearly aims to be. It is absolutely character driven. Even if they're annoying at first you will want to see the Mirai, Yuuki and Mari get to their homes safely.

Art - in the first episode or two, I didn't like it, but somehow it grew on me, much like every aspect of this anime. The art doesn't distract negatively or positively from the plot and the characters.

Sound - in terms of soundtrack and the general fx relating to the whole earthquake situation we have going on here, again the soundtrack feels right. Your not distracted by it, and emotional moments are enhanced. I'm a working musician, so I do easily get turned off by some anime's if the music is hopelessly unrelated, or too loud so that I listen to the music instead! I didn't like the opening theme, but I find it hard to consider that as related, and I don't think I listened to the ending theme ever, because I had to continue to the next episode as quickly as possible! The voice acting is great. The characters are really brought to life , specifically their vulnerability and their humanity.

Character - this is where its at. The characters themselves are interesting and develop well. You get to see perspectives change in desperate situations and its all done very well. I know this is going to be one of the few series I will remember forever. Apart from the character ... its character!

Obviously I enjoyed it. You'd be making a grave error to pass this one over, though I'm sure I had done in the past!
