elfen lied is without a doubt the most overrated anime in existence. the show has an incredibly boring story line filled with poor characters, annoying music and "plot twists" that a 2nd grader could see coming. the show is excessive bloody and the nudity adds nothing to the show, if you want to watch something bloody watch baccano! or hellsing or even deadman wonderland anything but this dreadful anime. the show was a pain to watch through but i make it my point to watch a show through even if it is bad (within reason) so i went through to the end. i was bored to tears and felt no empathy for any character at all. many people are drawn to this because they think it will be full of action and sadness. nope... maybe it would be a little bit sad if the show didn't develop the characters so poorly and there are very few action scenes and when they do happen they are short and boring. if you are looking for sadness go watch angel beats! or something else this show has nothing in that regard. all in all elfen lied may be up there in my list of all time worst anime not only because it is so bad, but also because of how everyone raves about it's "depth" which is completely non existent. in conclusion simply save yourself the time and pain and do not watch it.
