This will be my first review on this site and I've been here for two years... anyways, where to begin. I was drawn to this anime by a Yuno Gasai page on Facebook. I was interested in some of the screen caps but had no clue what the anime was about so I decided to check it out and I have got to say, I was pleasantly surprised. I like to consider myself something of an anime critic, I haven't seen an absurd amount of anime but I definitely know a good one when I see it and Mirai Nikki is DEFINITELY an outstanding anime.

Story: 10/10
This is where Mirai Nikki truly shines. Unlike many anime that follow the same formula, given the genre, this one really stands out through all 26 episodes. I didn't find myself growing bored at all throughout the entirety of the series (I finished it in one day). For nearly 10 1/2 hours straight, I sat down and watched as the story unfolded before me. The plot within this anime is definitely unique and extremely captivating. The fact that you NEED to come back to have your questions answered was very interesting for me. The future is constantly changing within this anime and with the story taking so many unexpected turns, I loved every minute of it. I'm normally not a fan of dark anime but this series definitely changed that.

Art: 8/10
I'm not too sure what to say about the art. While it was the art that caught my attention in the first place, the story is what kept me interested. Throughout the series there are a few minor dips in quality but overall it was relatively high.

Sound: 9/10
The first opening and ending had me hooked. They're catchy and very representative of the dark tone present within the central plot.

Character: 10/10
If only two qualities determined how great the anime truly is, it'd be the story and characters. The characters all have plenty of depth (save one or two) and all have their own unique roles to play. Following an arc type progression, each of the Future Diary holders has (at least) 2 episodes devoted to them, allowing ample time to provide complexity to each character.

Enjoyment: 10/10
I definitely found Mirai Nikki very similar to a book. It had me going through the episodes the same way I would go through a book. For almost 10 1/2 hours straight, I couldn't stop watching. The story's gripping premise, the excitement of the well paced action, the feelings of despair felt by the main character. The feeling of immersion set by this anime is truly amazing.

Overall: 10/10
I rarely give an anime a 10. The one's that I do give 10's stick out in a big way, whether they have a serious emotional impact, an incredible story, or just an astounding sense of immersion, they stick out. Mirai Nikki did just that; it stuck out and as such, I would highly recommend this anime to anyone.
