This movie was... well, great. I heavily believe that anyone could watch this and enjoy it for what it is. And while the movie is much better if you've seen the whole series, I also think that someone could watch and enjoy it without even knowing what K-ON! is.
The movie was very well paced, and the girls fit right into the story. Within minutes the movie had rekindled by absolute love for every single character. We got to see them react to a new and exciting environment with classic silly situations that you would expect from KyoAni.
I won't spoil much (though there's not much to spoil anyways haha), but the last half hour or so of the movie, I was crying on and off. KyoAni somehow pulls you in and makes you feel like all the girls are your best friends, too, and they're now graduating. They've grown older and now they're already off to college. The ending is heartbreaking a little, especially if you've experienced similar events. While it's nowhere near as sad as something as Clannad, the series and movie can still be moving to some.
Overall, this turned out to be a great movie. I can only hope that this might lead to a 3rd season, but if not, it was a great closing to the series.
