Ah, Cardcaptor Sakura. My very first anime that I watched in Japanese and subs. For CCS to be my first anime, and given that it is a Magical Girl one, it led me to expect all anime was as cute and heart warming as this one.

Well, it's been awhile, and I've seen a much more variety of anime now, so I think I could write a proper review...

The story had a typical magical girl story, and even back then I noticed the patterns. Problem comes up, Sakura deals with it, and it's another victory. There were also many cute moments between the characters, and, of course it moved me a lot since it was my first time experiencing such cheesiness.

The art was beautiful. Scratch that, it IS beautiful. Probably one of the best works from CLAMP. I can't really add on to this....

As for sound... Well, I was new to the whole Japanese dub thing back then, so naturally my reaction to their voices and the language was complete shock and confusion. But, when I look back on it, I think I have no right to judge the sounds. I haven't read the manga, so I can't say if I thought the voices were fitting.

I fell in love with the characters. The way they treated each other, the way they spoke to each other... It changed me so much. But anime does that to people, no? But, I wish that there was a bit more development in some of the characters. Some of them left me hanging, and I wonder how their lives went on afterward. But I guess that's just whats part of the anime. To keep you wondering... Or to make you read the manga to find out more.

Overall, I really loved this series. I have sentimental value in the show, and I can still catch myself humming "I am a dreamer..." It was outstanding. I'm just writing this review from plain memory, though. It's been more than 3 years since I've last watched this!
