When I started watching this anime I was new to the whole anime fiasco. I had not seen The melancholy of Haruhi Suzumia (a must see before this anime) or actually a lot of the animes that are referred in the show which in the end make me think that this is a boring slice of life anime with no comedy, no character development and with bad art style (boy was I wrong).
A year after my initial view of the show (I dropped it on episode 5 or 6 i think) I said to myself that I will watch it to the end and that every anime at least deserves to be re seen a second time to analyses what actually is bad in it. So I watched the first 12 episodes and I found myself unable to stop laughing so I continued to watch it and actually finished the anime in one sitting. It was that good now. I now started to see the humor in this anime was - the characters that I said were shabby and non developed suddenly started to be funny and interesting. Each and every character was likable and the best part is that I started to make connections with my friends and the character from the anime (and I think that this is a really big + to a slice of life anime).
Well it is absolutely hard to recommend this anime because like I said this anime will most certainly not appeal to everyone's taste but it has potential. The music is good in the anime, especially the bloody opening... I still have it stuck in my head and it has been a long time since I saw this anime for the last time.
The story is lacking a little bit because there isn`t an actual story right up to the end, but that is it`s charm that it takes everything lightly including it`s story.
The art well let`s face it, it isn`t that good (my first reaction was THIS IS HORRIBLE to be honest with you), but again it gives the anime it`s personality.
The characters are lovable ( heck because of the main character I now write smiles like this :3 because they remind me of how funny she was). Well the anime tries to develop some specific and actually stereotypical character traits seen in the slice of life genre. For example we have the tsundere, the moe, the airhead and of course the die hard comedian type character (oh my sweet sweet Konata.)
To wrap this up. The anime is a parody/slice of life anime. It has it`s ups and downs. You need to watch a few other animes before this one like "The melancholy of Haruhi Suzumia" so that you can understand how brilliant the humor in this anime is. I will recommend this anime, but be warned that I don't guaranty a 100% satisfaction from the first time you watch it.
I will paraphrase a funny line that the dubbed Naruto says a lot and is actually relevant for this anime.
