Mixed Feelings
First Review, I'll keep it simple. Not going to mention the background story in detail as you can just wikipedia that.

Story: Awesome premise. Genetically altered human sub species, treated "horribly" by humans are made to look more human than humans actually are. Too bad the show fails horribly at showing this. In reality they were not treated badly enough to become some race hellbent on destroying every human, which is why the whole story fails. It simply is not believable that Lucy would be out to kill any human except Kohta (the male lead) even when a few assholes killed her puppy. Granted, killing puppies is awful, but would that really make you think every single human being is an awful person that deserves death? No. Being only 13 episodes, the story is not developed enough, making most of the events of the story not believable. Another thing that bothered me is that all these people and dicloniswhateverthefuckitwascalled that are connected by their pasts, coincidentally end up in the same exact home. Just ridiculous.

Art: Backgrounds are very well detailed through out the series, and the deaths (which are over the top by the way, viewer caution is advised). Character design is incredibly generic though, although it isn't poorly done. Child tits are shown. Not a fan of cartoon, or child porn so it put me off slightly.

Sound: AMAZING opening theme, I think everybody can agree with that. The dub that I watched on netflix was OK. The main characters all sounded pretty mediocre, but the side characters were much more well done.

Characters: Annoying, generic, MYUWUWUW. The two main human leads were cringe worthy with some of their lines. And really they didn't serve much of a purpose through out the show, besides having a half assed flashback thrown in to connect them to the main character, Lucy. The diclonysis were all interesting enough. The show made you want to sympathize for mutants, but the scientists were really not that evil in general so it was hard for me to feel that way.

Enjoyment: The death scenes made the show worth watching, although I struggled to finish the series. The first episode is awesome, then the next 6-7 are pretty bad. The series really picks up at the end though and somewhat redeemed the show. I think with 26 episodes the show could have realized its full potential given how intriguing the background of the series was.

Overall: Cringe worthy characters, and a horribly executed story that makes the themes of the anime very hard to believe, ruined this show for me. This could have easily been a 9/10 or 10/10 if the producers put more time adding substance to the show, and not just relying on shock value and tits. Do people actually enjoy looking at cartoon breasts of young girls? Sheesh.
