This is a good short and sweet watch. I enjoyed this ver much so and the fashion or the artsy side of the spectrum didn't draw me into this at all amazingly. The STORY is your run of the mill, average story of a normal girl who gets a once in a lifetime opportnity. It's really nothing to complicated to get into. This is a double edged sword, making the story safe, but still follows the blue print of this kind of outline, keeping the pacing to be almost perfect. I found that the story did not linger on, making me want more. The ART is "different," stylish and reminds me a lot of Nana. It uses bright colors and subdues them into more of a matte appearance, in comparision to the shiny luster of most other anime. This show was produced by Madhouse, which speaks volumes on the quality. For those who are unfamiliar with bones, they're work is OUTSTANDING. There are no complaints from the peanut gallery. The art style itself is unique, like I said. This could take some getting used to, but it's all based on preference. The SOUND also follows suit to the trend. The opening is graced by Tommy Feburary 6 and the show exits with Franz Ferdinand. They fit the mood of the show keeping that stylish, fresh and nouveau feeling. The CHARACTER department is something I have a bit of a tiff with. Each part of the cast has their own highs and lows. However character developement seems a bit inconsistant, it was not a gradual change. This is especially a problem for the character of Yukari. All in all I enjoyed this show, the chemistry between the cast was a great redeeming quality. This is not a typical show for everyone, but definately give this smooth ride and test drive. Have fun.
