I'm not sure why some fans of the original Evangelion series are blasting this movie. Yes I know, that some of the best parts in the series were skipped, and characters changed, but so what? Sometimes change can be good, and these new changes to the series are damn good. Some of the battle scenes between the angels have been improved drastically to the point where you have to stand in awe of it's epicness, and the new character developments of Rei and Asuka are a plus to their original personalities. Also new characters, such as the new pilot Mari, are a welcome addition to the series, as her character is introduced in a great way to the audience in the opening scene, by showing her enjoyment and fun of piloting an Eva, while kicking ass at the same time. Also the character development of Shinji near the end is exactly what the original series was missing. People want to see him grow a pair, and start fighting for others instead of himself.
Overall it was a great film to watch, and would highly reccommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it. It is worth your money, and you will be blown away by it.
