“A Cherry Blossom petal falls at 5 Centimeters per Second.”

This sentence is none other but a line/quote from the first episode of the anime, said by the female protagonist. Some of you, who haven′t watched this anime might ask - “What′s the connection of the title to the story ?”. I can′t quite remember if I have ever asked that question to my self. But one thing′s for sure, you won′t be able to hear that line, AGAIN. Well .. It′s not like you need to hear that quote every freaking minute. But still, it really doesn′t have much of a connection anymore once the story gets far. Trust me.

- 5 Cm per Sec, is about a boy (Takaki) and a girl (Akari), who were really close as classmates and as childhood friends; Boy-Girl Childhood Friend relationship is, but a mainstream to watcher′s eyes. Truth to be told, once you watch a boy-girl childhood friend relationship, you might easily guess or know how the story will continue on. Like those childhood friends would become a couple, yes, mostly. But here in 5 Cm per Sec, compared to mainstream plots of Childhood Friends Relationship—in which the childhood friends become couples—The story is a bit different, but surely, still needs a deep storyline.

When you watch the first episode, you think that 'This is a good start.', yes. That is where the story only emphasizes the atmosphere of the two childhood friends, and gives of a strong feeling of the childhood friends towards each other.

And as soon as you get onto the 2nd episode, it somehow makes you feel sad. It′s like you can feel how Kanae feels; how she likes Takaki, though Takaki doesn′t like her, nor look at her more than just a friend. But after that episode, you won′t be able to see Kanae anymore. That′s what I didn′t like about 5 Cm per Sec; They need to deepen the bond between the characters, they need to deepen the story. 5 Cm per Sec lacks much of a plot, it′ll really make you wanting for more. 5 Cm per Sec is about ones distance, relationship and hardships.

If they made the story differently, it might′ve been better from what I had expected for it to turn out in to.

- 5 Cm per Sec has that simple yet full-of-feelings kind of art it′s not that great, but you won′t consider it as 'decent'. It somehow feels like that artist is really in to drawing the scenes, backgrounds, sceneries. It′s like .. she is drawing it with a strong feeling, somehow getting deeply emotional together within the happening to the story. - If you take on to the not-so-great perspective, you′ll think it′s just normal. Well, yes it is. Mostly, every anime′s have the same style/kind of art. But surely, one is different from the other.

- Note: 5 Cm per Sec doesn′t have an OP Song;
The ED Theme 'One more time, One more chance' by Masayoshi Yamazaki is just right, appropriate to the story, and how the characters feel, their emotions, everything; While listening to the song, it makes you wanna shed a tear, that just truly means that the song is sang good.

- The characters who revolved around by the story, is Akari, the female protagonist who said 'A Cherry Blossom petal falls at 5 Centimeters per Second.' ; Takaki, Akari′s childhood friend, and also her 'boyfriend' ; Kanae, Takaki′s classmate in his new school when he transferred. These are the characters whom you might shed a tear with, each and every one of them experienced sadness, happiness and hurtfulness. That′s what made them move on, to not look back at the past, except for Takaki. It took a long time before he got to move on from Akari, Takaki′s the one who suffered most because of their distance and their lost of way to communicate.

Even if I haven′t experienced that kind of hardship, I know that it′s really hard to move one if you really love the girl. But still, if you used to love her, but she had already moved on. You must also move on and accept the fact that you two can′t be together anymore.

- 'Enjoyment' → 'Disappointment'; Honestly, I didn′t enjoy watching 5 Centimeters per Second. It totally changed my way of viewing about it. I thought that it′ll be great - but NO, it wasn′t. As I have said, the problem in 5 Cm per Second is the STORY ! The story still needs a lot of improvement and deepening ; 5 Centimeters per Second, on the other hand, portrays a great amount of real life scenarios. And that is it′s strong point forth. People who will watch this anime, might think that this is great and might also like this. It′s up to you, because people have different tastes and likes.

'Not Helpful' and 'Helpful' people, FEEDBACK is greatly appreciated :D
