Ignoring the killer abridged parody, this is a pretty great OVA. Unlike the recent film adaptations, this story actually takes place in the world of Sonic (albeit only the 90s cannon). While for some reason it's split into two parts it doesn't matter. The characters are likable in a snarky 90s fashion, however whoever played tails should get some nasel conjestion medicine. Somewhat generic plot and weird eggman pedophilia moments. However I love the take on metal's story and how it expands on it compared to games and adjacent media.

The animation is some of the most good looking I've seen in general. The metal fight at the end is one of the most iconic sonic fights Ive ever seen.
