This series had an interesting concept that ultimately fell short in how it treated its storyline and characters. Since it consists of only two volumes, it suffers from poor pacing, all of the main plot points are rushed through and seem unnatural. As a result, the ending feels out of place and awkward.
Neither of the main characters experienced any real development, and their romance felt mechanical and shallow. The main conflict between Aria and Prince Eugene appeared unnecessary and was half-heartedly resolved, then brushed over. Additionally, all of the side characters introduced served only to push the romantic plotline and felt very one-dimensional.
There were also significant liberties taken with historical accuracy, as indicated by the plot.
