I'm glad I stuck with this anime because I ended up having a lot of fun.
Takeo is a boy who doesn't fit into the Japanese aesthetic standards. He's super tall and wide, and is admired by boys for his strength and rejected by girls, unlike his best friend, Suna, who is the handsome boy in his class. So, all the girls Takeo has feelings for have fallen for Suna, but this time it was different. After saving a really cute girl named Yamato from a stalker, Takeo gets a chance to find true love.
The anime in general is in that style of a light story without much conflict, where the plots are different in each episode. This style can work if done right, or it can go wrong and become uninteresting, and Ore Monogatari is both (much more interesting than uninteresting, anyway). Up until episode 12, the anime is nothing exciting, being a little funny every now and then, but nothing too special. However, after the amusement park episode, the anime becomes more fun and comical. I don't know why this happened, but I'm glad I didn't give up because it made me laugh a lot. The anime's jokes are incredible, especially the ones involving Takeo and Suna. My favorites are the one with the kiss with plastic wrap and Suna alone in the amusement park. The romance in the anime is also very fun, although I don't think it's what makes the anime shine, but it's still super cute.
Note: Yamato is living proof that girls can be cute and girly without having to be insufferable and whiny, which seems like a lot of anime/manga fail to understand. My favorite part about this character is that even though she's a super princess, that doesn't stop her from acting out in situations.
