Alr, I heard that it deviated from the manga and so was sceptical and decided to read the manga first (good decision). I was not prepared for how much they deviated. They didn't just change one or two arcs or combine a couple characters, they full on erased one of the most important characters and skipped like 3 whole arcs (really good ones at that!). As a stand alone S2, its pretty good, if you don't read the manga, its pretty good, but when you consider the source material that this is meant to be adapting, it is almost a completely different story. For reference, S1 had 12 episodes and adapter chapters 1-37 almost exactly. S2 has 12 episodes again but adapts chapters 38-181... Its pretty similar up until them reaching the shelter, then it completely deviates. The anime skips the entirety of like chapter 45-110 or something like that, missing out crucial information, character development, loads of brilliant and developed characters and more.
So to conclude, as a stand alone S2, id give it 8/10, its pretty good, but overall its rushed and the character development isn't really there.
However as an adaptation of the manga id give it like a 4/10. It still has similarities, but it changes so much and cuts out so much important information when it wouldn't have even been difficult to adapt it accurately that its barely even an adaptation.
If you don't plan on reading the manga, give it a watch, as its still got good animation, voice acting, and the story, while worse, is still entertaining, however if you plan on reading the manga (which I would HEAVILY recommend, it really is so much better and so worth it) then read the manga first as to avoid any spoilers, and then come back to the anime afterwards.
