Even though Hametsu no Oukoku starts with a very interesting plot, it goes downhill very fast and it's all due to a few main issues:
- The author doesn't know their own characters; the MC specifically starts very strong and OP, but it seems like in later battles he forgets almost everything he did in previous battles, it's a regression instead of progression. Usagi starts strong, or at least we are shown he probably is, but when we see him fight, he's just not strong, they had to nerf the MC to make the fight last. Also, some characters appear to be really intelligent at some parts of the show, but then they are shown like a really dumb character, it makes no sense.
- Edginess; this is not like The Eminence In Shadow, a show that clearly parodies edginess and goes 100%, almost everyone in this show is a cliche stereotype and is used in a serious manner, it's almost comical knowing most of them have edginess scenes.
- Character relationships don't make sense; they just aren't built properly, they get too close quickly or we are expected to connect with a character before their death, but we haven't seen them on screen for long enough.
- Character visual designs are great, but personalities are generic.

This is as much as I can say without getting so deep that I end up spoiling something.
Not recommended, but it had a lot of potential if it went the slow route.
