Frieren may not be for everyone, particularly if you enjoy action-packed shows but it is excellent in many respects and richly deserves the praise from the public.

When Frieren was set to premiere last season, I was completely unaware of the hype surrounding it and did not know what all the fuss was about. I read the synopsis and watched it on a whim because I had limited time and could only watch a few episodes a week, and I'm glad I did.

Frieren, in my opinion, is a really skillfully written story; everything just fits together perfectly. The pacing is excellent, and even though flashbacks are one of the most overused plot devices in shows, Frieren manages to do it so effectively that you don't feel like you're getting too much—in fact, you'll probably want more. The majority of the flashbacks are brief and abrupt, and they beautifully connect to Frieren's current experiences while enabling her to make connections to her past.

Particularly during the First Class Mage Exam arc, where many interesting characters were introduced, such as Denken, who we will see and learn more about when and whether the continuation will be animated, the side characters are also rather good and don't feel like an afterthought.

The fighting in this series isn't as good as many would want, but the animation is amazing, and most of the combat is quick so far. This fits in well with the way the story is written, as it was mentioned that defensive magic uses a lot of resources in addition to the ability to summon objects out of thin air, so it makes sense that fights in this series won't last very long unless you have a huge mana pool.

Lastly the soundtrack is so good in this show, from the two opening themes, Milets beatufilly sang ending theme, Evan Calls Zoltraak, and everything in between.

Ultimately, this show offers a wealth of life lessons that aren't forced on you, and you may learn a lot from it. It's good to watch the main characters develop during this journey, having minor disagreements and picking up lessons along the way. The bond between Fern and Frieren is just too sweet.

In conclusion, if you're not really looking for an anime with long fight scenes and nonstop action, this is a must-watch. It contains a few well-placed humorous scenes to help you laugh after crying too! wwww
