I'm glad I decided to read Dragon Ball instead of watch it, because subjecting myself to hundreds of hours of this shit would be torture. What makes DB and DBZ so insufferable is not only the dog shit story but also the brainlet fans of the series that only consume DBZ content like its the only anime/manga that ever existed. But this is a review on the manga not its awful dumbass fanbase. Some pros of Dragon Ball are the artwork and world. I do think the world is interesting to an extent, I love the character/vehicle design and the art style for the most part as a whole. I'm a big fan of Dragon Quest and Chrono Trigger so that comes as no surprise. The story is inconsistent and none of the fights have any weight because every side character is sidelined for Goku to win the fight, and he does every time. When characters die it doesn't matter because they respawn with dragon balls. The story is dumb as fuck and the characters are even dumber ESPECIALLY Goku. Writing is boring and bad along with the power system. You just yell and try to push out a constipated shit until your hair turns yellow and then you're stronger. So yelling and going ahhhhh makes you more powerful ok. The story somehow gets worse after each arc, the Buu Saga is trash. The Freeza arc is my favorite if I had to pick one. Yeah this story is terrible and so are the fights. I've seen better and more interesting fights in Max Keeble's Big Move, the food fight in particular. A strong 3/10 and I'm being generous. Love the art style Toriyama-san.
