Ghost Hunt

Ghost Hunt

Plot:

It's not quite a horror anime, it's more supernatural, it's not heavy but it's enjoyable to watch, you get attached to the characters and their personalities and you understand things as the cases are unraveled, it's like a Scooby Doo but much better. The anime follows more of a suspenseful and supernatural investigative atmosphere and brings a bit of distress because it has references to things that are based on real events such as: Polstergast...
The anime brings a lot of references to real things from the supernatural world, such as: Onmyouji, which is a divination system that dealt with paranormals in the Heian period (around 800 AD).
The anime is good! It is as close to reality as possible, of course not 100% and they use argumentative facts to describe cases and situations. Despite talking about the supernatural world, it is something that actually exists in real life. well done, simple script, but very well done and divided into files and their parts.
The cases are interesting and the chemistry between the group members is very good, even having some funny scenes that can cheer you up in some way.
Another note about the plot is that the story, depending on the case, may develop a little slower but it is still good and leaves you in the mood of the characters' conversations.
I seriously recommend you watch it, it deals with some very interesting topics.
Note: lots of references to real things.
Note: Many things make sense and try to get as real as possible from human reality even though it is a supernatural anime. Really very good!

Sound design:

The anime's soundtrack is good, as is the opening, which in turn is a simplistic animation.
The soundtrack used in the scenes is simple but good and accurate for the scenes and the sound effects of some suspenseful scenes will cause some shivers and scares for the most sensitive, those who are already used to it may not be impressed, but I make it clear that they are very well made.
I particularly like the ending song.
The sound, the sound effects, the musical atmosphere to cause fear with the suspense are really good, in this regard they get a lot right.

Characters:

The characters are well designed but considering the year the anime was released in 2006, their art is great. This style of visual art for the characters is common for the mid-2000s and was a trend at the time, something ok.
Regarding their personalities, I won't go into too many details but Naru-chan is the brains of these characters and has a peculiarity that is always being considered too young to be the leader of a ghost hunting organization. In addition to him, there is the girl who is the protagonist, since we are talking about a Shoujo anime, she is highlighted and we often have her reasoning vision, in this case, Mai Taniyama. The other characters each with their own role and personality are interesting, I recommend you watch to discover each of them by subscribing, I won't delve into that in depth. Another thing is that you get attached to investigations. Other than that, no further comments.

Visual art:

Sober realistic style, I usually call animes that look closer to a normal human physiognomy, and everyone in the anime is very normal in terms of their appearance and appearance. The look of the anime is very 2000s, the colors are good, the lighting also cooperates between the different scenarios, no concept or anything different, everything is very normal but very good.
For the time of release, which was in 2006, this visual style was well-regarded and pleasant, you see several animes from the 2000s with this same art and visual style, simple but beautiful.

Author:

Fuyumi Ono
She is a Japanese novelist.
Ghost hunt is a Shoujo that despite having "terror" also has a certain romance in the work.
Another notable work is the manga (Shiki), which in turn is also a horror novel. So you already conclude that she likes to combine horror and romance in a work. She is an author of horror, suspense and romance.

Studio:

J.C.Staff
She has created more than 400 animations, is well recognized in the Japanese animation scene and her highlighted works are: One Punch Man, Bakuman, Kono Subarashi, Saiki Kusuo, etc.
It is a Japanese studio, based in Tokyo and was founded in 1986. It can be said that based on the works already created by this studio, it is a studio of quality and reference. It has quality in the style of images and illustrations, it is a studio that has remained above average even after years of its foundation, this only shows the professionalism of the company's management.
It has very fluid and constant animation. almost all of his works have a medium/high style, even if they are slice of life or action, they are characterized by being fluid and very well developed.
J.C.Staff is often compared to A-1 Pictures and Bones, which also have fluid and constant animations in all their animes, with fine and sophisticated features, something that many people envy.
J.C.Staff is one of the most famous anime studios and despite being an incredible studio, it is still an average studio, as the animation has its flaws, however, the soundtrack is wonderful. Note that it is a very old company and has been in the anime business for a long time, so it can be said that there will still be ups and downs in relation to the production of Japanese animations.

Director:

As it is a large studio like J.C.Staff, there is a large production team and in turn several directors, but the main one in this work would be: Satoshi Iwataki, the same animation director of Attack on Titan, Dororo, Death Parade , animation key from Fullmetal achemist Brotherhood, Code Geass, among many, many others.
Note: Unfortunately, Satoshi passed away on December 30, 2023 at the age of 60. Rest in peace!

Remembering, this is my opinion, my view, my taste and way of seeing the work. I'm not a professional critic, I just do this as a hobby and for leisure but I like to dedicate myself to doing it in the best way possible.

I like to speak from the point of view of someone who flirts with horror and bizarre things and I know that there are many people like me, in the world.
