Just from the first episode, the CGI animation was hard to watch physically, so much that it actually gave me a headache. Too much action in frame at one time, too much frame movement/zooming, lots of dark/light contrast -- maybe it gets better later, but it isn't for me.

As a reader of the manhua I agree that the story has been modified such that I could not follow along. My preconceived notions of the story line made it harder to understand on top of the animation issues I mentioned above. I always try to give a manga/manhua adaptation a chance, but I don't think I'll be able to with this one.

For now, I will stick with the manhua to see how Luo Zheng progresses.
