The manga is objectively superior to the lacklustre anime adaptation in terms of comedy. However, an unpopular opinion on reddit is that the execution of the narrative is held back by the "comedy" tag and some useless filler chapters the author has written. Another gripe many have with this story is giving certain side characters useless and repetitive traits that diminish the quality of the story such as Fiona, Yuri and to some extent, Becky. They had potential with Fiona being Loid's comrade and Yuri being another liar to add to the complexity of the Forgers. They still have these qualities but are also held back by their strange(but in Fiona's case somewhat understandable?) obsession for the MCs and a lack of good character development in 90+ chapters. The time wasted on them could instead be used on making Desmond a more interesting antagonist, to explain lore, or could be used to add more to the Forgers' dynamic with each other because Twilight and Anya's dynamic is the heart of the story. Yor's my favourite and seeing her grow more fond of the family is brilliant-I just wish it was explored more often.
Despite pacing issues, progress has been made so far-Yor has a more significant role to play that overlaps with the mission and the introduction of new characters(who are not present to simply obsess over twilight and yor) has potential. The cruise and twilight's backstory were the best arcs. The hijacking had so much potential and had stakes involved but the author handled it somewhat incompetently-the comedy was some of the best the series has had but the aftermath was disappointing. Twilight has struggled in recent chapters which has probably made him more likable, because he may have come across as a bit of a male mary sue to some at the beginning. Anya is also interesting and hopefully, the author will give us an insight into her past too.
The story has come a long way since only 10 chapters were released but should this amount of development really take 90+ chapters?
