Unlike other isekai out there, this show isn't stupid. There's no overpowered MC, and the main character doesnt get a harem of twelve girls in the first episode for simply existing. Rudeus has to go through his own struggles as a character, and the trauma from his past life, which most isekai don't usually explore. Usually, the main character gets transported to another world and everything goes their way, and their past life is never shown. In Mushoku Tensei, Rudeus's past life actually affects him a bit. We see glimpses of what he's been through, and it plays an important part.
One of the best things about this anime has got to be the world building. It's just such an interesting world, with so many interesting characters. A thing I love is that even though this show is focused a lot on Rudeus, everyone has their own story, and their own things going on. The story is just getting started, so don't expect anything crazy to happen just yet. Just get delved into the show, and let it amaze you.
Definitely one of the best fantasy anime.
