Mixed Feelings
Preliminary (8/12 eps)
Spoiler
So from what I've heard, the source material for this anime is an ecchi and if Studio Passione had stayed true to the source material it would have elevated this anime into the realms of guilty pleasure and out of the ho-hum doldrums we find ourselves in.
Unfortunately, that is not the case and what we are left with is a hot mess that tries to be too many things at once and falls short of all of them.
We have the reincarnated demon lord stuck in the body of a ten-year-old, this makes some people uncomfortable but it's a bit of a nothing burger "thanks" to the lack of ecchi anyway. But the problem here is that we don't really get to find out (so far) the MC's primary motivation or his patron goddess's stake in all of this.
This is set in a futuristic world plagued by attacks from the mysterious "void beasts" but the anime does a poor job explaining why this is happening.
There is also the school setting with a ranking system, but aside from the one episode where the female MC gets her power-up, this is left to rot by the roadside on the way to nowhere. Also, the female MC is now a vampire, because why not?
All together it's a lot of moving parts that don't mesh together well and often get neglected.
So why am I still watching this? Because the female characters are cute and the VC cast are killing it.
If you are bored and feel like some anime junk food check it out, but don't expect it it be more than a flash in the pan that will only see one season and then quietly sink into obscurity.
