Chise hasn't learn to let things go and keeps barging into stuff she does know about sacrificing herself in the process her whole arc is to learn to value and protect herself, I know as much because one of the things I had to learn to work on was my self esteem and stop prioritizing others needs over mine, someone who does that as a default like Chise means they have permiable boundaries which are a direct result of enduring abuse, helping others shouldn't come at a personal cost or what's worse at the cost of those around you which is what Chise does dragging Elias and on this arc Alice too, sure she is a hero and if she wasn't like that we would have a story, but the thing she is being told since season 1, to be careful and mindful of her well being she keeps ignoring as soon as anyone else's has a problem, as Alice herself points out, that behavior is egotistical since Chise can't help herself but to indulge her need to be a savior which in that world means people owe you favor back because nothing is free. "The right thing to do" sounds rather utilitarian in a context were it's literally putting your life at risk and that of others by proxy just because you decided to make someone else's problems your own, the school headmistress Quillyn was completely right when she said her work was to protect the school and the students rather than risking someone else's life to save one person. Hopefully since Chise got plot armor she'll save the day with minor loses, no injuries or price attached, but seeing how the mechanics of exchange in this world are I highly doubt it.

I love this anime but now that I think of it Chise won't be allowed to grow and work on her sense of self worth and boundaries effectively healing her trauma since the lack of that is literally the plot device to move the story forward, what Chise feels for Philomela is trauma bonding because she recognizes suffering through her sad gaze. Sure she is our heroe but I was expecting more retrain and contemplation of the consequences on her part, but she just acts impulsively on pure instint and emotion like a child even after everything that has happened, Chise get a grip girl! Think of what's the right thing for you first and foremost. You ain't Jesus christ you won't die for our sins, okay! Get some help before is too late. You matter too, there's no need to prove yourself.
