Ammo (Manga) add (All reviews)

Preliminary (11/51 chp)
Knowing Atsuji Yamamoto's other works, AMMO is "another one" of those comics.

AMMO is piece lost in time. Despite it's publishing date being 1998 it feels more like poorly aged mix of cliches tired endlessly trough 60s, 70s and 80s.

Main character of the series is female detective Amou (word play, it sounds like "ammo").
Series opens with very chaotic page where she's surprised by her informant with whom she proceeds to go to the public restroom, she then removes her panties, and let the guy fondle and sniff them before he gets quiet. Because she was in a stall for some reason, instead of pinning hers informant, she got ambushed, shot, but still continues the pursue and the rest of the series happens.

It's not the best way to judge the book by the cover, but cover of this series had titular character in cat-hat, grinning with tiny cig, blood on her exposed bosoms while reloading revolver. Back cover had: creep with gun, chained hand and breast, and shot panties with some empty casings.

Well, ok, what's more inside?

Story jumps from idea to idea, everyone except three older creepy dudes look the same so it's hard to follow the narration whatsoever.
Everyone get shot trough by every other bullet, and everyone acts as nothing really happens until it is convenient for the story for character to suddenly feel pain. And pain is the leading force for the author to do anything.

Instead of some cheap, off brand Mad Bull, Gunsmith Cats, or female Dirty Harry, you are presented with thin storyline and excuses to show violence, abusive and sadist tendencies towards women. Men also get hit, but not as much as women.

There's weird sex, incest, rape, playing with bloody wounds.

Everything, like I said, is loosely tied up with some sort of story but if there were none, this series would have exactly the same amount of logic and sense.

TL;DR part:
Art: was already aged when published, it's just bubble breast, round faces, and huge eyes. Not sure if female character is 15 or 45. Oh, she's 24. Guy looking like he's 75? He is 45.
Characters: author had idea for the leading girl, and just tossed his scraps to fill in the gaps.
Story: garbage and excuse to delve into authors sexual fantasies while pretending this is gritty and witty police story.

Overall - this is just another Atsuji Yamamoto's work. You've read one, you have read them all. I think maybe "Sindbad" didn't try to only sexploit his characters that much.

If you are into sex with a woman, who is bleeding from her back shot-wound, you'd rape a shot woman, or rape drugged and bleeding woman, read it. If you are normal: don't waste time.
