Slice of Life that changes genre. It's been my dream to see something like this.

It's a testament to the quality when a series begins in a quiet situation. A world of demons, a clear conflict in the background, but we focus on a mother, Lorem and her child, as they slowly open up to humanity. I've never seen a series which so consistently, and progressively, advances towards the finish line with such finesse. We start at such a calm, cute point, where it's all about how each character reveals a little more about our fmc, who we grow to care about, alongside her friends, family, acquaintances. The world opens up to us, chapter by chapter of perfectly paced comedy, intertwined with world-building. The danger creeps up ever so slowly, and the stakes get higher and higher as Lorem knows more about everything. We get the past when we need to, we get the sad reality at times, and it culminates in a grand finale that feels entirely earned.

The characters are EVERYTHING in this series. Everybody has this contrast in themselves; a contradiction to who they are, which allows them to be fresh every time they're on frame. The overly loving mother who's the strongest devil to ever exist, the “cowardly human” who breached the path between the strongest devil and humans to collaborate. The abandoning man being deserving of love because of his situation. It's always a little extra something that spices every personality, and I love the dynamics of every episode. I wasn't tired of little Gospel, one of the cutest characters ever, playing on the sand, and discovering how to do a sand castle. I was enthralled by the incredibly scaled fight scenes. Likewise, I wanted to know the positive outcome of every fight. The author connects you, and allows you to breathe with them. We enjoy the happy times, just as much as they do, and it melts my heart to just see Gospel, and his mother being incredibly proud at the most normal moments of life. The fights aren't the important thing, it's the smile that comes from those who survive it for the good of the world.

I don't have many complaints. It's a profoundly cute story, that isn't trying to wallow in the misery, but to find the good in the horrors of life. However, it sometimes devolves into big titty fan-service which sometimes intruded in the more serious moments. Fights scenes are pretty good, except when the panel doesn't display enough detail to understand what's actually happening. BUT, that's just sometimes.

In general, this is a great story, with a great cast, the cutest designs, heart-melting life-lessons, and good fight scenes.

9.3/10. You don't always find this kind of gem in the slice of life genre.
