Preliminary (9/26 eps)
I never knew about Mirai Nikki (or Future Diary if you want the english title) before my friend mentioned and I am glad he did. I am loving each episode as it passes by.

Story - *Slight spoilers for Story and Character*
Mirai Nikki starts off about a socially awkward boy named Yukiteru Amano who uses his phone to make diary entries on the world around him, the people he notices etc. Being socially awkward, Yukiteru made friends in his mind. One being Mur Mur and the other being Deus Ex Machina (the God of Time and Space). During a conversation between Deus Ex Machina and Yukiteru, Deus makes Yukiteru's phone have future diary entries. So for example, when he finishes reading the future diary entry on his phone, the first thing it says is "April 22, 6:59 [My Room] I hit a double bullseye at my morning dart throw. At first Yukiteru thinks he wrote all of this during his sleep, then later thinks it is all a coincidence. He is able to use his phone to know when their is an upcoming maths test and his phone has the answers to it. Anyway, to sum up the premises up for the rest of the series, Deus pits 12 random diary holders (just like Yukiteru) to play a game, where they have to kill each other. The last one standing's prize is being the successor to Deus Ex Machina of the God of Time and Space.

Art - Bright colours, for a dark anime.

Sound - I like the sound of Mirai Nikki, this anime knows when to play the right type of music, being it suspensful or a happy tune.

Character - The character Yukiteru himself, is like I said before socially awkward. But he is pitted against other diary holders trying to kill each other and also him in the inclusion of that. So he has to make actions, he wouldn't normally do or say before any of this actually happened.
Another character I have yet to mention, is what I believe is the main factor, the bread and butter, without this character, the show wouldn't be what it is. Her name is Gasai Yuno. Gasai Yuno is also a diary holder, but she is different from the rest. She doesn't want to kill Yukiteru, she wants to protect him at all costs. Sure that might seem all harmless and all, but she has this particular trait about her, that differentiates her from the other diary owners and side characters. She can go from sweet and cute to one crazy SOB (not like in some ecchi/rom-com animes) when it comes to protecting Yukiteru.

Enjoyment - I really love this series, pretty much all the episodes leave you on a cliffhanger and it really does grab your attention. I am not sure, you'll get what I mean from just reading my review, but I am loving this series. Can't wait for more episodes.

Overall - Even though, it is only up to episode 9, there are still 17 more episodes to go. The character development and relationship between Yukiteru and Gasai Yuno does have you asking "Why would she go so far to protect Yukiteru"? It is a really gripping anime, and does take you for a suspenseful joy ride. If you enjoyed the likes of Death Note (only with the odd funny/awkward scene every now and then) then you'll without a shadow of a doubt, love Mirai Nikki. As soon as it gets released in DVD format, I will be picking it up. A perfect 10 from me.
