Preliminary (8/11 eps)
Oshi no ko has a great concept and character cast to back it up. The show starts off with a very long first episode which acts like a prologue to the story, similar to in to your eternity. Like in to your eternity, the first episode is an emotional journey that does an amazing job of developing the main character and their motives.

Oshi no ko's first episode will likely go down as one of the best in all of anime because of how well it does this. However, my problems with the show start here. The first episode is the length of a movie which is to its detriment as the pacing if off multiple times and the show kind of loops around a bit. Whilst the emotional pay off, character development and concept are definitely worth it, to your eternity's first episode for example has the same level of pay off, if not greater, in just 20 minutes. And like to your eternity the show relies on its exceptional characters and concept too much and after the first episode occasionally loses it way randomly and winds around until it gets back on track.

The show randomly loses focus and the pacing suffers because of that. I love the ideas and the story the show is telling about the harsh realities of the entertainment industry but there are just too many things the show tries to do and it feels unrefined.

Note: these criticisms are only because of how good it is and how it has potential to be even more. This is a great show that is a good break from the generic industry plant shounens that come out every season.
