Spoiler
Spoilers alert: I do not know why this manga has such a low rating. I understand that it starts differently and ends differently, but i do not know why this makes the manga bad. Lets take it one by one

Art: While the art style is not my thing, it was a good art. The placement of the apperance of the kudan was also done greatly, and at some times the kudan could give one shivers.

Story and characters: Well, i can understand one thing from the other reviews, and that is that people make a distinction between the first and the second half of the manga. They base their low score for the manga based on this difference. Well, i can say the distinction exists, and perhaps damages a little the manga for some people, but depends on what one wants to read. In short, in the first half, the manga is very close to the old late 1990s, early 2000s american horror movies in atmosphere and themes, and then it turns to a "end of days" (the film with schwarzenegger) kinda work. Too much exposure of the Kudan, killing some of the mystery, but in general, i can appriaciate someone trying to blend the two genres. It started as "the dead silence" and ended as "the end of times".
I can also agree that there is too much perhaps uneccesary filler, such as the scenes with the yakuza, or chizuru's blonde friend, which added completelly nothing to the story and made things more confusing than what they really were.

Truth be told, the last 20 or so chapters werent good. But they werent that bad either, there were some parts that made it really great, like the exposition of the protagonist as the Kudan (essentially, the messenger of god or something similar), and his tries to find himself as a "human". I can sense that the author did not have a clear ending from the start, and had propably thought the outline of the story till the middle. From then on, he improvised, and propably with pressure from his managers (once more, profit destorying art) to release chapters quickly, led to him to be kinda lazy and sloppy regarding the story, trying to put new characters and themes without properly developing them due to the fact that he was again, propably forced to close the manga quicker than he expected.

Nonetheless, overall an 7. It is worth a read.
