This show is STILL one of the best pieces of media I’ve seen. They foreshadow stuff since the very beginning and the way it’s written is spectacular. It quickly gets into the dark stuff but still retains its theme of hope.
They take absolutely every trope of a magical girl anime (or any kind of action anime to be fair) and flip it on its head. You think certain characters are your foe or vise versa, but they have hidden motivations for who they are and what they do. The main character’s personalities are the focal point of the show, and they enhance the plot.
The animation and soundtrack are spectacular as well. The labyrinths are really creative and unique as well.
The main takeaways I’ve received from this show is that there will always be despair in this world, but there is hope as well. As long as we fight for a better future, we can change this world for the better. There are things worth protecting in this world.
